Reference Textbook Order Feedback
- The Library received 1,237 reference textbook requests for AY23/24-S2 through e-Bridge.
- 1008 titles have arrived in the Library collection, one copy of which will be shelved in the Course Reserved Area (3F, the Library). You can easily search the reference textbooks for your modules in the "Curriculum" of OPAC.
- 26 titles exist in the Library's digital collection, the electronic copy is searchable and accessible on OPAC.
- 47 titles have not been ordered due to incomplete or incorrect bibliographic information (title, author(s), ISBN, etc.)
- 105 titles are out of print. Please check for other editions.
- 11 titles are temporarily out of stock.

Library Notice of Loan Period Adjustment during the Winter Holiday
For your convenience and to avoid any overdue fines before and during the Winter holiday (if you were out of university and could not return the books), the Library will extend the loan period for books. Please kindly pay attention to the loan period adjustment shown as below:
Any checked-out library items with due date between 30th December, 2023 and 3rd March, 2024 will be extended to 4th March, 2024. Please make sure your borrowings are returned before the due date (4th March, 2024) to avoid any overdue fine.

Library Highlights
The Library Advisory Group Kick-Off Meeting Held Successfully
The Library Advisory Group Kick-Off Meeting held successfully on December 6th, saw the participation of Ms. Liping Yang, Deputy University Librarian, along with the library team and Dr. Bong-Hwan OH (IoT), Dr. Darcy Sperlich (HSS), Dr. Graham Dawson (Science), Prof. Miguel Baptista Nunes (IoT) and Dr. Xiangyun Lu (IBSS). The discussions primarily revolved around elucidating the group's objectives and defining its work scope. Consensus was reached on updates to the Affiliation Guidelines. Furthermore, deliberations took place regarding the subsequent actions of the meeting between the Library and the eight schools in XEC. Moving forward, the Library Advisory Group is committed to continued cooperation with the library team, with a steadfast focus on fostering an environment conducive to learning, teaching, and research for both students and staff.
The Intellectual Property Information Service Center December Services Summary
In December, the Intellectual Property Information Service Center at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University provided a total of 16 Citation Index Reports, as well as Sci-Tech Novelty Retrieval Reports, to faculty and students of our university and the Suzhou Industrial Park Institute of Services Outsourcing (SISO). These reports played a significant role in assisting faculty members from the School of Design in securing provincial-level awards for their achievements and supporting faculty members from the Suzhou Industrial Park Institute of Services Outsourcing in applying for professional titles.
Library Successfully Held the ' Introduction to Artificial Intelligence —— Library AI Idea Exchange Camp (Session 1)', Jointly Exploring the Potential of AI in Learning and Work
On the afternoon of December 6, 2023, the library held the first session of " Introduction to Artificial Intelligence - Library AI Idea Exchange Camp " in the computer room 455 of the Central Building at SIP campus. Chao TENG, Deputy University Librarian, delivered a speech for the event that the event aimed to share skills of using AI applications, and to jointly explore how AI applications can empower learning and work. Librarian Jiao LU, gave an overview of artificial intelligence, introduced efficient prompting skills, shared experiences on AI generated Image and video tools, AI applications in Word, Excel, and PPT.
In the future, the library will continue to conduct a series of AI literacy camps to share with students the new achievements and related applications in this field, and to cultivate students' ability and awareness of the standardized use of new technologies, with a view to taking advantage of new technologies to assist in improving efficiency and innovation.
Event Review: Successful Hosting of the Smart Tools Series Workshop
From November to early December, to enhance the information literacy and data analysis skills of both faculty and students, the library engaged in extensive communication and collaboration with academic schools, and launched the Smart Tools Series Workshop. The Library collaborated with Dr. Yi Zou, Dr. Peng Zhao from the School of Science, and Dr. Xiangyun Lu from IBSS to conduct four workshop sessions on the popular programming languages R and Python. The workshops garnered significant interest, with a total registration of 282 participants. Post-workshop feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees viewing it as a valuable opportunity to initiate their programming journey. Moving forward, the Library plans to continue collaborating with academic schools to organize workshops, and remains committed to information literacy education.

Shaping A Sustainable Future: XJTLU Library Successfully Held SustainEvents
SustainEvents, organized by XJTLU library, was successfully held from December 4th to 15th, 2023. It aims to endow patrons with knowledge and information pertaining to sustainable development, and ignite a sense of responsibility towards a sustainable future. The event featured a science exhibit, book fair, paper recycling program, and SustainBoard, attracting numerous participants. During the two-week event, patrons actively engaged in different types of activity, delving into the significance of sustainable development and diverse ways to incorporate sustainable practices into daily life. Through the SustainBoard, we have received various messages and thoughts both online and offline, expressing the passionate and shared interest in sustainable development from patrons.
XJTLU Library extends heartfelt thanks to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement and support. We will continue to dedicate ourselves to promoting sustainable development and creating a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future.
