The Order Feedback (MAY 2024) regarding the books ordered by the Library is updated. The arrival time of imported books might be affected due to delays in international parcel delivery. For any urgent need, please contact your subject librarians.

Reference Textbook Order Feedback
- The Library received 1,531 reference textbook requests for AY24/25-S1 through e-Bridge and e-mail. Please click here to review Book Status.
- 1,343 titles have arrived in the Library collection, one copy of which will be shelved in the Course Reserved Area (3F, the Library). Students can easily search the reference textbooks for their module in the "Curriculum" of OPAC.
- 16 titles exist in the Library's digital collection, the electronic copy is searchable and accessible on OPAC.
- 48 titles are not ordered due to incomplete or incorrect bibliographic information (title, author(s), ISBN, etc.). Please send the correct book information by submitting the Library Print Book Suggestion Form to your subject librarians.
- 65 titles are not ordered due to out of print/stock.

LIBRARY NOTICE
Library Notice of Loan Period Adjustment During the Summer Holiday
For your convenience and to avoid any overdue fines before and during the Summer holiday (if you were out of university and could not return the books), the Library will extend the loan period for books. Please kindly pay attention to the loan period adjustment shown as below:
Any checked-out library item with due date between 1st June, 2024 and 14th September, 2024 will be extended to 15th September, 2024. Please make sure your borrowings are returned before the due date (15th September, 2024) to avoid any overdue fine.
If you are not able to return to university on time to return the books, Library suggests you to renew borrowed books online before the due date via https://opac.xjtlu.edu.cn. If you have any problems with renewing items online, please send an Email to library-service@xjtlu.edu.cn for help.
Library Digital Resources Update
The Ecoinvent database is a life cycle inventory (LCI) database supporting various sustainability assessments. It currently contains more than 18000 activities, otherwise called ‘datasets’, modeling human activities or processes.

IPISC Highlights
Event Review: Successful Hosting of the Third Session of "IP Seminar"
On the afternoon of May 27th, the third IP Seminar was successfully held by the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center (IPISC). Themed "Exploring Intellectual Property Protection in Biomedicine,’ the event aimed to help biopharmaceutical enterprises and researchers gain a competitive edge and foster industry innovation. Mr. Lei Liu, Executive Director of the Intellectual Property Management Center at Jiangsu Nhwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., shared valuable insights on transforming scientific and technological achievements and protecting patent layouts in the biomedicine field. Ms. Shuangjing Yan, a Biomedical Solutions Consultant from PatSnap, presented search Strategies and practical utilization for Pharmaceutical Patents. The speakers engaged in lively discussions with the attending faculty, students, and enterprise representatives. The IPISC plans to consistently provide a range of training sessions and seminars to further bolster the university's endeavors in research innovation and technology transfer.

Event Review: The Researcher Academy Symposium Spring 2024
With the theme of Making Your Next Paper Scientifically Effective—Insights from Leading Scholars and Editors, the Researcher Academy Symposium Spring 2024 was successfully held on May 21st. There were 4 inspirational sessions respectively. Prof. John Moraros, Dean of the School of Science at XJTLU, drew from his research journey to examine the essential qualities, opportunities, and challenges for a successful research career, offering pertinent advice and significant encouragement to young scholars. Representatives from ACS analyzed the key points to consider in the academic writing process from a publisher's perspective and discussed how to avoid manuscript rejection effectively. Additionally, Ms. Lulu Wang (Research and Instruction Librarian, XJTLU) introduced the open access publishing services offered by the library. This event centered on scholarly communication, and provided early career researchers with crucial insights into academic publishing and a platform for interaction, aiding them in their academic research journey.

Event Review: Library As a Bridge in XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy
To enhance communication with XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy, provide more comprehensive services, and ensure faculty and students stay informed about available resources, the "Library as a Bridge" activity was held on May 21st. During the introductory session, librarians introduced various resources and services offered by the XJTLU Library. This initiative highlights the library's commitment to facilitating convenient access to knowledge and supporting academic pursuits. With further participation anticipated in this series of activities, the engagement and awareness among staff and students regarding the library's resources and services will keep increasing.

Library Report: Essential Science Indicators Research Performance Report_2024 May Issue
The Essential Science Indicators (ESI) Research Performance Report provides information about XJTLU’s ESI rankings and performance, Top 1% research fields and Top Papers. ESI Top 1% of institutions identify top global performers in 22 different research disciplines.
According to the latest ESI update on May 2024, XJTLU ranks 2,901st among the 9,019 listed institutions worldwide, with the overall ranking moving up 152 places. The University has retained its position in the global Top 1% in the fields of Engineering, Computer Science, Social Science, General, and Environment/Ecology.

Library Successfully Hosts “Library Student Reading Champions’ Gathering & Talk”
On May 15th, the “Library Student Reading Champions' Gathering & Talk" was held by the library at CB153. During the event, Deputy Librarian Chao TENG and User Services Division Team Leader Shanshan LI presented awards such as “Reading Superstar" “Top Library Visitor" “Group Study Superstar" “Outstanding Association Award" to those who frequently utilized library resources and contributed to book promotion or library services. In a face-to-face format, librarians engaged with attendees to exchange ideas and collect feedback. Students expressed satisfaction with the library's services and provided positive feedback. The library will continue to provide a richer and more efficient service, strongly supporting students’ learning and research.
XJTLU Night School on AIGC Successfully Conclude
In early May, the XJTLU library partnered with the Learning Mall to offer a series of night school courses covering a wide range of topics. One of these courses, led by the library, was titled "AIGC Quick Start Guide: Master AI for Study and Career Success." This course focused on the concepts and applications of large language models, exploring the demands of the new era, the emergence of new technologies, and the skills required for new talents. The course included case studies and practical exercises on becoming a prompt engineer, as well as an introduction to AI tools that can aid in learning and career advancement. Certificates of completion were presented to the participants by the Deputy University Librarian Chao TENG, commemorating their achievement in acquiring AI proficiency through the course.
XJTLU Library (XEC) Successfully Held Three Training Sessions
XJTLU Library (XEC) has conducted training sessions this semester, namely Career Planning in March, CiteSpace in April, and Voyant Tools in May. The first one is to introduce career planning training for college students to start making their own career plans. The second one introduces how to use Citespace, a software tool, to visualize and analyze scientific literature. The third one aims to understand the different versions and the operating environment of Voyant Tools and explore more interesting and useful data analysis features. Many students actively participated in these sessions, and the librarians provided detailed and professional explanations. The library will be committed to providing more professional training for patrons to help them learn new skills and knowledge in the future.
