Call for Chapter Abstracts

Book Title: Comparative Studies on Generative AI and Cultural Narratives in Higher Education

Synopsis: The book aims to explore the intersections of generative AI and cultural narratives within the context of higher education, examining how these technologies and stories shape and are shaped by educational practices, policies, and pedagogies. The chapters should offer comparative analyses illuminating the similarities and differences across various cultural, regional, and institutional contexts. The book seeks to advance understanding of the complex relationships between generative AI, cultural narratives, and higher education, and to provide insights for educators, policymakers, and researchers. Potential topics include but are not limited to, the impact of AI on teaching and learning, the role of cultural narratives in shaping AI development and deployment, and ethical considerations surrounding the use of AI in higher education.

We are now registering interest so please submit your abstract if you believe your chapter can fit into one of the following broad themes:

  • The intersection of generative AI and cultural diversity in higher education, exploring how AI can be used to promote inclusive and equitable educational practices.
  • The use of generative AI in creating and analyzing cultural narratives in higher education, examining how AI can be harnessed to study and understand cultural phenomena.
  • The impact of generative AI on the future of work in higher education, discussing how AI is likely to change the nature of academic work and the skills required for success in the field.
  • The ethical and social implications of using generative AI in higher education, considering the potential risks and benefits of these technologies and how they can be used responsibly.
  • The potential of generative AI to enhance student engagement and motivation in higher education, exploring how AI can create more personalized and engaging learning experiences.

Timelines:

Deadline for abstract submissions: 30th November 2024

Abstract decision: 30th December 2024

Full chapter submission: 31st July 2025

Review process: 3 months, peer-reviewed x 2 (authors to provide suggestions for two reviewers)

Re-submission of full chapter following reviewer comments: 30th October 2025

Submission of full manuscript: 31st March 2026
