LIBRARY HIGHLIGHTS
Library Compact Stack Project Completed at Taicang Campus
At the end of December, the library compact stack project at the Taicang campus was successfully completed. The compact stacks are located on the basement level of Block D at the Taicang campus. There are 7 rooms in total, which can store over 600,000 books. The project will solve the urgent shortage problem of library storage space and can meet the new storage demands in the next 8 to 10 years despite the rapid increase of library collections. The project will also greatly improve work efficiency and reduce labor/time costs. The Library adopted Electric-motorized compact stack shelving to realize remote book search and operation. Combining RFID book positioning technology with compact stacks, librarians can find the books patrons request easily and quickly.
