Library Seminar 'Preprints for Scholarly Communication' Successfully Held
The Library seminar Preprints for Scholarly Communication (预印本与新型学术交流) was successfully held on 22 Feb 2023.
Our guest speaker Prof. Jingli Chu (初景利教授) (Director of Academic Board, National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences 中国科学院文献情报中心学术委员会主任) focused on ChinaXiv, a pre-publishing platform for academic papers, sharing its significance and value to authors, readers, and scholarly communication.
Around 50 staff and students who are interested in scholarly communication as well as librarians joined the seminar and communicated with Prof. Chu face-to-face.
During the Q&A session, an active discussion between our speaker and the audience was involved where further functions and practices of ChinaXiv were explained and talked about.
XJTLU Library (Taicang) Successfully Completed the Restricted Resources Book Positioning
In order to promote the collection construction, XJTLU Library has transported and allocated 300,000 Restricted Resources books from the SIP campus to the Taicang campus. With the joint efforts of librarians and RFID engineers, XJTLU Library (Taicang) has completed the positioning of these books. Through the Inter-Branch Book Delivery service, students can borrow these books easily.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is a popular choice for electronic identification and RFID positioning. With the RFID positioning system, each book in the library has its own position information. By querying the location information, books can be found accurately and quickly, which increases the efficiency of the circulation process.
