Reference Textbook Order Feedback
- The Library received 1,395 reference textbook requests for AY23/24-S1 through e-Bridge.
- 1260 titles have arrived in the Library collection, one copy of which will be shelved in the Course Reserved Area (3F, the Library). You can easily search the reference textbooks for your modules in the "Curriculum" of OPAC.
- 5 titles exist in the Library's digital collection, the electronic copy is searchable and accessible on OPAC.
- 36 titles have not been ordered due to incomplete or incorrect bibliographic information (title, author(s), ISBN, etc.)
- 55 titles are out of print. Please check for other editions.
- 18 titles are temporarily out of stock.
- 2 titles, which failed to be ordered due to not being officially published, will be reordered by the Library.

Go Reading: Dream of the Red Chamber (红楼梦)

As the treasures of human history and culture, classic works can often bring people endless thinking and inspiration. Among the many classics, “Dream of the Red Chamber” is undoubtedly a good choice that will never be outdated. Through “Dream of the Red Chamber”, we can see the various forms of life and the state of the world, and think about the meaning and value of life. The fifth session of Go Reading will be held in December by XJTLU Library and Reader Association. Let's follow the speaker's character analysis to explore the life of the “Dream of the Red Chamber” together.

IPISC Highlights
Successful Hosting of the Second Session of "IP Seminar"
On the afternoon of November 17th, the second session of the "IP Seminar" was successfully held at the X-Bar of XJTLU. The event, themed "The Copyrights and Patents Issue during R & D Process," was jointly organized by the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center (Library) and the Employment and Training Guidance Center of the Suzhou Dushu Lake Higher Education District. Dr. Yuchen Yan, lecturer at the Intellectual Property School of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Yingying Pan from the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center respectively delivered speeches. The event attracted nearly 40 participants from XJTLU, surrounding universities, and enterprises.

Library Report: Essential Science Indicators Research Performance Report_2023 November Issue
The Essential Science Indicators (ESI) Research Performance Report provides information about XJTLU’s ESI rankings and performance, Top 1% research fields and Top Papers. ESI Top 1% of institutions identify top global performers in 22 different research disciplines.
According to the latest ESI update on November 2023, XJTLU ranks 3,121st among the 8,901 listed institutions worldwide, with the overall ranking moving up to 34 places. The University has retained its position in the global Top 1% in the fields of Engineering, Computer Science and Social Science, General and Environment/Ecology.

XEC Campus Tour for 2023 Sino-Foreign University Library Conference Held Successfully
On November 4, at the invitation of Duke Kunshan University Library, the organizer of 2023 Sino-Foreign University Library Annual Conference, the XJTLU Library team welcomed the participants to visit the campus of XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang).
Through this campus visit, the library team demonstrated XJTLU's state-of-the-art facilities and student-centered education concept to the librarians from various Sino-foreign university libraries, and shared expertise about the library-related work, thus promoting communication and understanding among peers.

Library as a Bridge: Shaping Future Academic Support Services with the Entrepreneur College
Ms. Liping Yang, Deputy University Librarian, and Prof. Graham Dawson, Co-Chair of the Library Advisory Group, led the team to the Entrepreneur College on November 22nd, 2023 and December 1st, 2023, to organize the 'Library as a Bridge' event, focusing on enhancing communication with the XEC.
On November 22nd, Ms. Liping Yang met with the Deans and School Managers of the School of Cultural Technology, the School of Intelligent Finance and Business, the School of AI and Advanced Computing, and the School of Internet of Things. Discussions were held on how the Library can enhance its customized academic services for them in the upcoming year and how to better align library events in the next semester with the needs of the Schools. In the afternoon, the InfoClinic event was held at the XEC Library.
On December 1st, Ms. Liping Yang continued discussions with the Program Directors of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing Ecosystem, the School of Robotics, and the School of CHIPS, as well as the Associate Dean of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub. The conversations signified a significant step towards fostering a synergistic relationship between the Library and the XEC.

Jointly Organized Researcher Academy Panel Discussion Concluded Successfully
The Researcher Academy Panel Discussion on the theme "Publish Research Articles: Insights from Ecology Journal Editors" was successfully held on the morning of November 21st. This event was jointly organized by the Department of Health and Environmental Sciences in the School of Science and XJTLU Library. The panel featured six esteemed editors from leading ecology journals, providing valuable insights into the manuscript submission and review process. The event deepened students' understanding of the process of publishing research articles.
The 34th "Living Library" Held Successfully
The XJTLU Library held the Living Library Event (Issue 34) with the theme of "The Major Goals of My Life" on November 21. The event invited five guests from various disciplines and majors. They used the form of "living book" to allow readers to "borrow" their real stories and experiences, listen and associate face-to-face, thus complete the reading. Through this event, the "living book" shared their learning experiences, exchanged their life insights, and explored their own major goals of lives with readers, thereby re-recognizing themselves, exploring inner hearts, and growing together through mutual communication. The library sincerely welcomes all XJTLUers who love reading and are willing to share their stories and experiences with readers to sign up for our various activities.

XJTLU Library at XEC Successfully Held the Comment Board Activity
XJTLU Library at XEC held a comment board activity from 13th November to 24th November, 2023. We received 61 comments in total, which include opinions on various aspects such as library space, equipment, infrastructure and collection. Based on these comments, the library will give feedback and take actions accordingly to meet the needs of our patrons. In the future, XJTLU Library will continue to enhance space and facilities, striving to create a more comfortable and humanized learning environment for students.
