Hello, guys.
I would like to ask if we need to (or must) introduce the background of the given dataset (state.x77) by referencing articles that actually talked about the history or conditions of 50 states of the US in 1977?
Or we just need to introduce the dataset itself by listing the meaning of the rows and columns in R and then do the analysis.

It is clarified in the task sheet:
"The introduction includes the background of the report, the problem statement, and a brief description of the statistical method."
Please introduce the background in the aspect of the scientific question (what question you want to answer, and why this question is interesting or important), rather than the dataset itself.
You do not have to list the meaning of all the rows and columns, but it is necessary to mention what is the dependent variable and what are the independent ones.
