Dr Yifu Wang is currently a postdoc at University of Hong Kong researching on human-wildlife interaction. Her PhD research tries to understand pangolin trade in China with a large focus on the medicinal market. She continued to work on pangolin conservation and the interface between traditional medicine and wildlife trade during her postdoc. Her research provides evidence-based actions needed for pangolin conservation from policy reformation to public awareness raising in China and beyond. She also pioneers in advocating to integrate voices from medicinal practitioners and other key Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) stakeholders in China to advise on and participate in biodiversity conservation, recognizing sustainable development as the common interest for both conservationists and TCM communities. Another aspect of her research focuses on human wildlife conflict, including "problematic" wild boars in Hong Kong's urban area. Her research provided evidence-based to government intervention that successfully managed improper human behavior and reduced human-wild boar conflict.
