Abstract:
Spoon-billed Sandpiper in China, a local NGO based in Shanghai, has been monitoring migratory waterbirds in the Yellow Sea since 2008. Data from these surveys have revealed that the coastal wetlands of Jiangsu Province—encompassing the cities of Lianyungang, Yancheng, and Nantong (collectively referred to as the South Yellow Sea Wetlands)—serve as vital migratory staging sites for numerous globally endangered waterbirds. Through cooperation with several national and international foundations and conservation NGOS,some of the important vacant sites have been protected by various means.
