Introduction:

In this seminar, Xueqing will share her experience of how her personal interest navigate her academic path. She will share these experience by introducing her research area on organic farming and the value of plant-based food for predators in conservation biological control.

- Organic Agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems, and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic Agriculture combines tradition, innovation, and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and good quality of life for all involved.

 - Conservation biological control aims to achieve pest control by enhancing natural enemies that occur naturally in and near cropland. It includes reduction in use of pesticides and other harmful practices, as well as methods to provide ecological resources to support natural enemies. Plant-based food are integral components of the diets of many natural enemies and increasing the availability of these floral resources is one of the main approaches in conservation biological control.
