Title: Interface Exchange and Health Assessment of Xenoestrogen in Atmosphere and Surface Water in Suzhou, China

Abstract:

Endocrine disruptors are widely present in the environment and are defined as a subset of endocrine disruptors due to the biological activity of environmental estrogens (exogenous estrogens). This study analyzes the interface exchange process of three target exogenous estrogens between fine atmospheric particulate matter and surface water in East Taihu Lake and Xietang River in Suzhou and studies the difference in health risks caused by non-dietary exposure to adults of different sexes.
The results showed significant differences in the air-water exchange direction of different exogenous estrogens. Furthermore, the non-dietary health and carcinogenic risks of environmental estrogens in atmospheric fine particulate matter are acceptable. Men in Suzhou experience higher health risks of inhalation and skin-to-skin contact than women when outdoors. This result provides a comprehensive knowledge of the pollution profile and environmental risks of environmental estrogen in the Taihu Lake Basin. It promotes the optimization and implementation of environmental estrogen management policies.
