Title: Spatial heterogeneity of riverine methane (CH4) concentration and emissions in a lowland river network
Abstract:
Methane is the second most important greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere and has approximately 34 times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide. Growing evidence shows that rivers are significant sources of methane. However, our understanding of the spatial heterogeneity of riverine methane emissions remain incomplete, and spatial heterogeneities may be overlooked by conventional sampling schemes. Therefore, in my study, I will investigate the longitudinal and lateral controls affecting spatial patterns of riverine methane fluxes and concentration.
