Monday - Lecture

There were several points that made this lecture interesting to me.

1. It introduced several ways we can control and manipulate sound, including recording and playback, amplification, repetition, modification and sampling, with some cool experiment and installation being introduced.
2. The introduction of several sound installations that allow the audience to be fully involuted and engaged. This let the interaction between the audience and the work become part of the work. The audience can experience "the moment" in an elaborate narrative context.

I also gained some thinking and reflection after this lecture. Since I am quite interested in interactive installation, it is of vice importance for me to think about

How can my work interact with the audience?

What is the purpose of interation?

Why is the interaction so important in my work?

Why concept or value or emotion I try to convey though the interation?

These are the questions I need to question myself when I further explore and development my own project.

Wednsday_Lab

On the Wednsday lab we explored another Audio processor software Max.

Unlike Processing, coding skill is unnecessary on this platform. What we need to do is link different block together and change the parameters. It reminds me of touchdesigner, which is quite cool.

The followings are the photos of manipulation of Max. We use it to change sound frequencies, create interesting effects with different filters, and use random parameters to change the repetition of the sound.

We walked around the campus on Saturday afternoon with our recorders. It was a beautiful day with the occasional sound of the wind blowing through the leaves.
We imagined the sound of the wind to be wonderful. However, while listening to the recording we found that the wind was too loud and instead created noise.

(We should pay attention to the volume of the microphone when recording).frown

But it's fun to explore and discover! Because spring is getting closer and closer, many flowers are blooming very beautifully. It was like we were on a spring excursion.

Interestingly, in addition to the sounds of nature, we had something unexpected - an open day rehearsal. We recorded some music and the sound of people.
They   were   absolutely   spontaneous!!!   I promise!!!
I have also edited these sounds into the final audio. Together they and the sounds of nature made for a wonderful Saturday on campus.
(Honestly, it was hard to record interesting sounds despite the fact that there were a lot of people at school today! After all, this is a peaceful campus)undecided

I used Adobe Audition to do some relatively simple manipulations, such as noise reduction, volume reduction, editing, and repetition.
This is my first experience with Adobe Audition, but in fact, many operations can be likened to video editing software and cubase, and I hope to have the opportunity to further explore this software in the future!

But listening to the same audio repeatedly is really a bit of torture. My teammate even once hallucinated (?)surprised
