Title: " Becoming a Data Scientist in Ecology and Environmental Science: To Be or Not to Be?"

Abstract:

In this staff seminar, Dr. Peng Zhao will share his experience as a data scientist in Ecology and Environmental Science. For environmental scientists, the data challenge lies not in acquiring enough data, but in efficiently managing and analyzing it. Environmental data science is an expanding field that involves skills, tools, and techniques for organizing and analyzing vast amounts of data to address increasingly complex questions. Since joining HES XJTLU in 2020, Peng has co-authored several journal papers (7 published, 2 submitted, and 2 in preparation) as a data scientist. He will delve into the stories behind some of these papers and discuss the accomplishments and challenges of being an environmental data scientist.
