Employee Relations Training for Head of Deaprtments
Proposed by Academic Departments and Teaching Centre, the ER (Employee Relations 员工关系) training has been conducted for HoDs in the afternoon of Thursday, 28th November, 2019. Mr. Su'an Zhang, senior consultant, was invited from Shanghai to deliver this course. This training includes five modules, they are labor contract conclusion, execution and renewal of labor contact, termination and dissolution of labor contract, action against the behavior in breach of disciplinary rules, and special regulation. This training is designed to provide HoDs better knowledge on ER related with taking their leadership role.
There is also a survey designed for collecting staff's feedback on this training session. The total score is 5, rating on the training/trainer is 4.88/5. Staff have participated and enjoyed this training with lots of sharing and open discussions.
Follow up on Advanced Selection Interviewing Training
Advanced Selection Interviewing Training has been successfully conducted on 20th November 2019 with staff from varies departments. It provides university interview panels how to conduct structured interview with a growing number of interview scenarios at XJTLU and discover the right talent for the university. It gives staff a concept of complete behavioral description and how to get it from your candidates using the right interview tools.
From this training, all staff have learned some hands on skills and practices from different perspectives. The most two impressive tactics that we may take into our daily works are FAR technique and STAR technique.
FAR-Feature Advantage Requirement
This technique provided staff with skills and logics when we are going to introduce and promote our University, department, and office to the public, media or individuals from these three crucial aspects.
STAR-Situation Task Action Result
The basic ideology of STAR technique is based on Behavior Based Interview. Using the STAR technique in an interview allows you to break your response down in a logical way.
Situation: set the context for the story
Task: what was required of you?
Action: what did you actually do?
Result: what was the outcome?
After this training, an "FAR" Interview Opening Sample that is prepared in the context of our university and as a reference encouraged to use for the interview opening.

Structured Thinking and Reporting Training
Structured thinking and reporting is one of topics in the Training Calendar of AY 2019-2020, which aims to improve the logical thinking and reporting ability for staff. Structuralism was first proposed by Barbara minto, a consultant at McKinsey & company. It is very helpful for people to communicate with others on writing, thinking, to solve the problem of organization overall.
This course enables staff to focus on the core of tasks and problems, think comprehensively from multiple dimensions and levels, and express themselves in a focused, coherent and well-reasoned manner. About 25 staff participated in this training and got certified. Staff have participated and learnt from this training with lots of role play and interactions.
