Symposium: What Is An XJTLU Teacher?

download.php?file=49855&view=18&embedded=1&text=77

The Opening and Closing Symposiums will provide attendees with an opportunity to reflect on their roles as teachers here at XJTLU and just what it actually means to be a teacher in such a young, transnational, innovative and changing environment.

In the Opening Session, members of the AEC will support this reflection process of attendees by offering short role-play scenarios that focus on learning and teaching practices that may or may not be representative of the XJTLU teacher. Attendees will have the opportunity after each scenario to offer key words and phrases that in their views best represent what the qualities and skills of the XJTLU teacher are or should be. They can do so by using their smart phones to complete a “word wall” which will be visible on the screen, and which will be constantly updating as each attendee contributes to the session or attendees will have the opportunity to write their ideas on provided A3 paper.

The Closing Session will be used to provide an overall summary of the ideas and views offered by attendees so that we all may have a clearer picture of what is regarded as the overarching role of a teacher here at XJTLU and a short discussion on the results will be encouraged. The results will be posted to all teaching staff across the University so that further engagement and discussion on the subject will continue across XJTLU.
