Introduction

It was great meeting you all at the 2016 XJTLU Learning and Teaching Colloquium. It’s your active participation that made this year’s Colloquium a successful event.

This year's Colloquium had an unprecedented 7 parallel sessions including external presenters from Hong Kong and Singapore. We know you may have missed some of the sessions that you really wanted to see and so, in this Colloquium 2016 collection, you will be able to view some aspect (either a Video, PPT or both) of all the parallel sessions. AEC is currently editing the keynote and other Communities of Practice (CoPs) resources, so please look out for an upcoming AEC e-Newsletter special edition on CoPs, as well as further updates to this edition.

Thank you for all the feedback!

~~ networking among motivated and enthusiastic staff about teaching

~~ It provided a very efficient and constructive platform for teaching staff to share their research results, teaching techniques and technologies they incorporate in their teaching

~~ I think the effort to continue to share good practice is very useful. This usefulness extends beyond the event. For example there are people in our faculty who went and they have brought the discussions back to us in our DLTC and other meetings. So even though it isn't like all staff attend, the event creates an atmosphere of open discussion which goes well beyond the two days

~~For me the strengths of the event were the chance to meet people from many places as well as colleagues from XJTLU. I really valued the opportunity to discuss innovative teaching practice and various perspectives related to teaching. As a speaker in the parallel sessions I appreciated the encouragement I received and the opportunity to share my ideas with a diverse range of people. I also strongly valued the opportunity to learn about new and interesting ways of using technology

~~Really enjoyed the tech thing on Friday morning. It gave me a lot of practical ideas for the classroom

~~I think it's wonderful that the university sets up an event where we can teach across disciplines. I had the opportunity to give a presentation and appreciated the support of my colleagues and of people from surrounding universities. I also appreciated the flipped classroom presentation which was wonderfully well researched and presented

~~The support staff did a great job getting the show to run I expect we made a highly positive impression on visitors, and it would be great to get more outside interest.

~~I learned a lot from this colloquium. The content was very insightful, parallel sessions in particular. Organization and management were excellent as well!
