Introduction

Welcome to this dedicated edition of our AEC e-Newsletter that focuses on the highly successful 2017 Learning and Teaching Colloquium that took place 6th-7th April. We have dedicated pages for each presentation that includes the PPTs where available and a recording of the session.

There are also lovely photos of the Teaching prizes awards that took place during the closing luncheon. Congratulations to all the winners!!

As I mentioned on numerous occasions, this Colloquium is only a success because of your participation and involvement. Without you, it would not exist. As such, a big thank you for being involved and demonstrating a heightened interest in the development of learning and teaching pedagogies across XJTLU and beyond.

We look forward to your continued interest and also look forward to seeing you once again at next year's Colloquium, which will once again be held on the Thursday and Friday of week 7, in the 2nd semester.

Best wishes,

James

Colloquium Brochure

Thank you for all the feedback!

Really great idea. Interesting topics and speakers. I enjoy chatting with colleagues, and sharing ideas how to improve teaching and learning at XJTLU.

The technology showcase was excellent. The debate was also good to be involved in.

The debates were a high point and generated a greater deal of discussion afterwards compared to last year's colloquium.

i could learn how other people do things (to get new ideas for my own teaching, but also just curiosity). All aspects of the event were very well organised, I think! It was also a good opportunity ("excuse") to meet my colleagues from all over the university.

Topics well designed, great examples given during some of the presentations.

It is important that academics take the time to think about their teaching. It is also extremely useful for academics across departments, and also the teachers from the language centre have a space to mingle and share ideas.

Diverse program, engaging presentations and overall slick look and feel.

Once again, the technology showcase was outstanding

Open discussion and participation foster a very good culture among staffs and students.

Great package: free bag, free T-shirts and great food :)

A variety of workshops aiming at different angles of teaching and research
