Educational Technologies Training

XJTLU's Educational Technologies Team recently launched a series of weekly workshops focusing on the use of ICE, Turnitin, Connect, mobile devices, etc. designed to provide greater opportunities for staff to develop their knowledge and understanding of various educational technologies available across XJTLU and ways they can be used to effectively enhance learning and teaching experiences.

The workshops are held every Wednesday afternoon from 2-3pm and provide hands-on opportunities for staff to put into practice what they are seeing as well as ask questions, etc.

Digital Learning Resources Hub

Following its official launch, XJTLU's Digital Learning Resources Hub is now fully operational, with staff from various department/centres/schools already having made use of this exciting new facility to create content that supports learning and teaching.

With this in mind, we wanted to highlight some of the ways the Hub is being used, as well as provide inspiration as regards the kinds of content YOU might want to create - and so we decided to put a little video showcase together. Enjoy! -

For more information about the Hub and to request a consultation as regards creating your own content, please contact: tel@xjtlu.edu.cn

New ICE feature: Moderator comments

ICE now has a new feature that enables moderators to leave comments about assignment submissions directly within the assignment grading interface. This means that instead of having to manage student submissions, marks and moderator comments manually or in separate locations, they can now all be accessed convenient and easily in one place - which helps save time and hopefully helps reduce potential mistakes. In addition, a moderator’s comments are stored permanently on ICE ensuring greater transparency. Only teachers and administration staff are able to view moderator comments.

The new Understanding Academic Integrity Module Area is coming soon. This new addition to ICE will contain interactive tutorials and quizzes that increase students’ awareness of plagiarism and best practices when using references and citations. The Module Area will contain a series of tutorials for students to work through at their own pace, and each tutorial will be paired with a quiz designed to give students the opportunity to apply concepts and test their understanding. Each quiz will offer students feedback and detailed explanations. Unlike other tutorials dealing with plagiarism and collusion, these materials are tailored for the Academic Integrity Policy at XJTLU. They also combine interactive elements and videos, creating an engaging learning experience. Utilizing activity completion tracking, students will be guided through each activity, ensuring that important content cannot be skipped.

The material will be separated into the following sections:

  • What is Academic Integrity?
  • Just Cite It: Avoiding Plagiarism
  • Before the Deadline: Your Guide to Turnitin

Look out for further updates concerning availability of the Understanding Academic Integrity Module Area in the coming weeks.
