In the process of making the game model, the low surface number model can see the effect of the high model, and the model with details needs to be made into a map with details after matching the high and low mode, which is called baking. The obtained map (normal map) records the normal orientation information contained in the surface of the high mode, and pastes it to the low mode to show the same orientation details, so that the low face number model can see the effect of the high mode, to achieve the purpose of saving the number of model faces and saving game resources.
The purpose of this function is to reduce the amount of information that the computer needs to calculate by reducing the number of facets of the model, while preserving the parameter information in the model as much as possible.
The teacher also taught us how to use the existing model materials for secondary creation, even if we have a weak foundation, we can create a relatively good finished product, and the use of materials can also reduce our workload.
