XJTLU Welcomes New 2017 Cohort

Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University welcomed over 3,500 new undergraduate and almost 470 ne new postgraduate students recruited from across China and around the world at its official opening ceremony on 27th August 2017. Students, their parents, relatives and friends as well as staff were invited to Dushu Lake Stadium near the University to attend the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Professor Youmin Xi, Executive President of XJTLU, delivered the welcome speech entitled "Let Research-led Education Help You to Achieve Growth and Wisdom". He stated that if students want to grow robustly at XJTLU then they will need to cultivate a "habit of exploration", a curiosity for the world and an interest in getting to the bottom of things.W5ZA%~P[G3M)E9F)H4$%FZH.png

Welcome New Staff - New Staff Induction

In August, we have around fifty staff totally joining in XJTLU. In order to help them adapt to and understand this diverse environment, HR together with CAA is conducting new staff induction from 30th August to 6th September.

To follow the previous practice, the induction is composed of Academic Session and Administrative Session. All new staff are welcome to attend the induction to be familiar with internal process, policy, regulation. etc.

2017 XJTLU Summer Daycare

In consideration of better care to staff who might have to leave their children unattended during working hours in summer holiday, HR offered a summer day program to full-time staff as before. The program lasted for six weeks and came to the end on 15th August successfully.

This year, there were about eighty children enrolling into this program. Teachers with kindergarten teaching experience were invited from XJTLU affiliated school to take care of there children, which enables them to spend a happy summer holiday in campus while their parents to focus on work.

We appreciated those teachers as well as your children's participation.

Annual Allowance Settlement

To: Members of Expatriate Staff

Dear Colleagues,

The academic year 2016/2017 is approaching to the end, and we understand you are going to make payment arrangement for the remaining of your allowances. In order to having sufficient time provided for you to arrange allowance request through PSHRM-ESS module, as well as to ensure accurate data transition and update across two academic years, please pay kindly attention to the following information about allowance settlement:

1. System status: PSHRM-ESS module/ Allowance Request function will be resumed for you to access from 6th September 2017 on, you can continue with the allowance request process. For staff who is new to the self-service system, a user guide is enclosed for your information.

 2. View your allowance: After you get into the allowance request interface, you should be able to see the amount of your allowances in AY17/18 which is listed in two separate columns “AY Total” and “Balance”.

1) Numbers in Balance and AY Total should normally be same since the beginning of the new academic year.

2) If the number of Balance is larger than AY Total, you have a remainder of allowance in AY16/17 and it is the difference between the Balance and AY Total.

(a) If your commencement date is on/after 1st June 2017, the remainder can be carried over to AY17/18.

(b) If your commencement date is before 1st June 2017, you can still claim the remainder in September. Any remaining of AY16/17 after September’s claim process will be paid off in a lump sum into October’s salary payment and may be subject to tax if you are not tax-free.

3. Choose the option “Payroll”:

If you want to receive your allowance payment as salary monthly, please remember to make selection of payroll option in system. Request for this option by email or paper copy will not be accepted as the request will not be transferred to the HR payroll system in time and processed promptly.

4. Important dates for monthly request:

1) Submission period for allowance request: 1st - 20th of the month

Please note – the submission period is 1st - 20th of the month, unless otherwise specified. The allowance request interface during the period of 21st to the last day of the month will be closed and re-opened from the 1st of following month. Please manage your monthly request accordingly.

2) Monthly cutoff day for allowance request: 20th of the month

No request will be accepted after 20th until the 1st of following month. Please arrange your monthly request in the submission period indicated above.
