XJTLU has an international education environment, a strict international teaching quality monitoring system, and the recruitment of teachers in accordance with the standards of world-renowned universities. XJTLU has been actively introducing world-class experts and scholars. Starting from 190 staff in 2009 at the beginning of the university (104 academic staff, 86 professional service staff), we have 1449 staff at present.
Status of Academic Staff
The rapid growth and rising international reputation of XJTLU continuously attract a large number of world-class scholars. By the end of 2020, XJTLU has recruited nearly 755 academic staff from more than 40 countries in accordance with internationally renowned university standards, supported by over 650 high-level and strong educational professional service staff. In 2020, we have recruited more than 10 full-time professors and middle and high-level academic management talent.
Nationalities of Foreign Staff
As of December 2020, there are 394 foreign staff from 44 countries and regions. Most of them are from the United Kingdom (124), the United States (46), Australia (18), Italy (27) and Canada (17). With the demand and expansion of teaching in other languages, more foreign teachers will join our university, such as Spanish teachers, Japanese teachers and Korean teachers, etc.
High-level Foreign Talent (Category A)
XJTLU's academic and professional service staff are the core competitiveness of the university. In the process of introducing foreign staff, we always insist on selecting high-level foreign experts with many years of teaching and research experience for the university. At present, there are more than 100 high-level foreign experts holding Category A work permits, over 200 ordinary foreign staff holding Category B work permits, and some of them have also obtained permanent residents of China. 57% of them have a PhD, 39% have a master's degree and 4% have a bachelor's degree.
2021 Work Plan - Organization and Staff Development
XJTLU will continue to optimize the organizational structure and governance structure, strengthen the organizational development of academic clusters, and enhance the efficiency and efficiency of operation. Staff members are the core competitiveness of our university. XJTLU has enough space and opportunities to attract and cultivate talents, rethink teaching methods, build a culturally integrated campus community, seek school-enterprise partners, and build a global alumni network. However, there is an urgent need for the stabilization and use of talents that are in short supply. Especially under the situation of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools faces many new challenges, increasing uncertainty in recruitment management, new problems in teaching and research, and bottlenecks in expanding overseas partners. We will continue to work hard to accelerate the gathering of high-level talents and talents in short supply, build a strong university with talents, and promote open innovation. Under the promotion of talent policies of governments at all levels, we strive to attract high-level talents and talents in short supply with various talent incentives and preferential policies, and closely link the career development of employees with the organizational growth of the university.
