The second round of print book acquisition for AY2020-21 has started. 50% book titles shall be collected by 15 December, 2020.

The Library Pre-approval Plans for each department are provided as below, from where you could select desired titles.
The Order Feedback (September-October 2020) regarding the books ordered by the Library is updated as below. During the regular epidemic prevention and control period, the arrival time of imported books might be affected due to delays in international parcel delivery. For any urgent need, please contact your subject librarians.

Wanted Book List
Based on the book recommendations from academic departments, the Library produces a ‘wanted book list’ for items which failed to be purchased. Faculty could find your own ways to purchase the listed books for teaching and research needs. It shall follow the procedure in XJTLU Library Faculty Purchase Reimbursement Policy when purchasing a book from the wanted book list.

R Workshop Series
R Workshop Series 1: Data Analysis with R Language - An Introduction
This session involves introduction to R, reading data, basic mathematics & statistics. After the workshop, you are expected to know how to run R, how to do some basic analysis, and how to write your own function.

This session demonstrates R graphing using the demo data set from the previous series, shows a variety of graphs that are often used in scientific research, and suggests useful graphing R packages.

Trends in Higher Education No.1 Oct 2020 Released
Trends in Higher Education is an internal publication sponsored by XJTLU library, which covers policy and reform of higher education, the university strategy and planning, international and comparative education, university culture, and overseas research progress of higher education. Hot focus is also set additionally.
The publication collects the latest scientific researches and tracks the latest progress in higher education, and combines the educational work practice of XJTLU, providing effective reference and guidance to higher education practitioners and researchers.
Successful E-Discovery Week 2020 Held
The 6th E-Discovery Week was successfully held between October 12th and 16th 2020. This year, aiming at promoting Library e-resources as always, the E-Discovery Week was featuring 4 activities:
- E-Discovery Challenge (over 1200 participants)
- E-Resource Training Workshops (8 training workshops & around 230 trainees)
- E-Discovery Board Game (2 sessions)
- E-Discovery WeChat Interaction (3240 readers)
XJTLU Library Academic Book & Textbook Fair 2020 Came to A Successful End
XJTLU Library Academic Book & Textbook Fair 2020 was held at the South Study Hall, the 3rd Floor of the Library, which lasted for three days, form Oct.27 to Oct.29. There exhibited all kinds of original foreign-language academic books and had attracted lots of faculties and students to the fair to read and select books.
There were over one hundred faculties and students involved in book recommendation, and more than one thousand books were recommended on the fair. Read more
Successful Scholarly Communication Mini-symposium Held
The Researcher Academy @ XJTLU Library webinar was once again successfully held. On October 28th, more than 100 researchers from the XJTLU community joined the Scholarly Communication Mini-symposium – Gear up for scholarly publishing onsite or online.
Three guest speaker, Ms. Qing Li (from IEEE), Prof. Johannes Knops (Department of Health & Environmental Sciences), and Dr. Jia Meng (Department Biological Sciences) have brought us with wonderful talks about scholarly publishing.
XJTLU Library Introduces “Shuxiang SIP” Self-service Bookcase
To optimise user experience and continue providing diversified services, XJTLU Library has currently strengthened its cooperative relationship with Suzhou Industrial Park Library by introducing a “Shuxiang SIP” self-service bookcase.
The “Shuxiang SIP” self-service bookcase is located at the east entrance of Central Building in North Campus, open 24 hours a day. Through the online borrowing system, XJTLU staff members and students can easily borrow books from SIP Library without leaving the campus. Read more
AY20/21-S1 Reference Textbook Order Feedback
- The Library received 1,332 reference textbook requests through e-Bridge.
- 1,123 titles have existed in the Library collection, one copy of which will be shelved in Course Reserved Area (3F, the Library). You can easily search the reference textbooks of your modules in "Curriculum" of OPAC.
- 94 titles, which failed to be ordered due to temporarily out of stock, will be reordered by the Library.
