AI-enhancement for Classroom as an Organisation Instructional Design: A prototype and Instructional Design Roadmap

Project Description

This project evaluates alternative strategies for incorporating AI-driven tools into the classroom-as-organisation instructional design. AI can substantially elevate immersive learning environments. The project builds on an existing learning prototype supported by a learning management system (Moodle) and an immersive virtual reality (VR) platform. Along with developing the AI-enhanced prototype, a methodology roadmap will be proposed to assist educators in designing and implementing AI-enhanced immersive learning experiences based on classroom-as-organization learning design in online or blended settings. The prototype features a course in entrepreneurship and will follow a dialogic teaching approach, and the methodology roadmap could serve to design immersive learning experiences in other subject areas or disciplines. The project has applied for funding from the XJTLU Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship.

Publications:

  • "Integrating Virtual Reality into Classroom-as Organization Learning Design: Experimental Case Study" was published in The International Journal of Design, Analysis and Tools for Integrated Circuits and Systems (IJDATICS) which features the basic version of the prototype that the research project aims to enhance by mixing AI tools with VR digital content (see pages 13-14-15)

  • The learning prototype was presented at the MARG Conference on "Virtual Reality-based Experiential Learning Solutions for Managerial Accounting Education: An Instructional Design Roadmap," November 15th, 2024.
  • The learning prototype was presented at a workshop at the 46th Annual EAIR Forum 2024 on "Designing ESG KPIs: A Roadmap and Learning Solution for Successful KPI Design in Organisations," August 24th, 2024.
  • The prototype presented at EdVentures on Thursday, 30th May 2024 in Taicang

Learning Prototype Development:

  • The prototype is currently under development using the VR immersive platform Uptale. (More information: Learning Prototype)

Immersive Learning Tools:

  • An account with Uptale VR immersive platform has been secured (www.uptale.io).

Future Developments:

  • A funding application is being prepared for the ERASMUS ACD220 - HE program under the project title: "Developing a Common Body of Knowledge for the Instructional Design of LMS-VR-AI Enabled Immersive Learning Solutions in Management Education" (IML-CBOK).
