HIGHLIGHTS IN DECEMBER 2021 |

Bi-semestral New Staff Induction was conducted on 17th December 2021, attracting over 60 new staff to participate in this practical information-sharing event. In order to assist newcomers to grab more information about professional services of the University, this event focused on the topic of Meeting with University Centre Services, inviting representatives from Centre for Academic Affairs (CAA), Centre for Administrative Affairs (CAD), Centre for Knowledge and Information (CKI) and Centre for Student Affairs (CSA) to introduce multiple services from their perspective. VPAA, Prof. Chris Harris, delivered an opening speech on the overview development of the University, including the fast-growing path, the new structure, the research-led mode, the technology-enhanced environment and the future-oriented concept. After that, representatives from the four Centres gave a detailed introduction to their functions and services, as well as answered the inquiries from the participants. |

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Parenting (MBP) have been completed successfully after the two-month journey. As an effective, scientifically researched method for reducing physical and psychological suffering, this series of courses helped the participants build their resilience, balance, and peace of mind in an open, non-judgmental way. During the learning journey, participants obtained a non-sectarian, scientifically researched approach that is in harmony with any faith-based tradition. They also focused on the experiencing and feelings when doing the interactive training. Staff Engagement Activities are drawing to a close after the two-month courses. Through the weekly activities, such as mandarin calligraphy, classical dance, oil painting and Chinese painting, participants would not only know more about the culture and arts but also broaden their understanding of Eastern and Western ways of thinking. |

As the new year approaches, Executive President of XJTLU, Prof. Youmin Xi has delivered an address on the topic of IGNITE THE LIGHT OF INNOVATION BY PUSHING BOUNDARIES (用极限挑战点亮创新灯火), which encompasses his sincere greetings for all the faculty members, staff, students, alumni and friends of XJTLU, the achievements we have made in all areas and the strategic plan for XJTLU’s development in the longer term.
Dear colleagues, students, alumni and friends, Time waits for no one, and once again, the year-end is here. Much has been said about the volatility, complexity, uncertainty and ambiguity the world is facing, yet I, more than ever, remain confident and optimistic about the future of XJTLU. In an unusual year such as the last one, we have been challenged by seemingly insurmountable difficulties, but as always, we stayed together as one and came out of it stronger. We witnessed how the University overcame challenges and took off against strong headwinds. As we approach the new year, it feels like the right moment to express my deep and sincere gratitude to all the faculty members, staff, students and alumni of XJTLU for your contribution to this community, as well as to all the parents, partners and friends of this university for your company and support. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! |
