Staff Training - A Series of Mindfulness-Based Courses

In a complex environment where people are under a great deal of stress, the University pays great attention to the physical and mental health of our staff members. Therefore, a series of mindfulness-based courses have been introduced to our staff this semester, in addition to the existing Staff Engagement Activities. The two courses mainly focus on the experiencing and feelings of participants while classes mostly consist of interactive training.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an effective, scientifically researched method for reducing physical and psychological suffering while building resilience, balance, and peace of mind. The first session has been started on 26th September, delivering an overall view on this programme and providing the participants systematic thinking in an open and non-judgmental way.

Mindfulness-based Parenting (MBP) is a resolution to the challenge that every parent faces. Children grow up every day, and parents are faced with a new child every day, with new problems that may arise every day. The general environment of educational involution adds to the pressure on both parents and children. During the course, participants will generally obtain the skills of setting an ongoing intention to be present at the given moment. It aims to help the growth of the parents when they giving parenting to their children.

Staff who are interested in these two Chinese courses, please feel free to contact TD.hr@xjtlu.edu.cn before 13th October 2021.

Staff Training - Chinese Pronunciation Workshop has been conducted on 28th September, as the fundamental session of the General Chinese Course. Pinyin is not only the phonetic symbol of Chinese characters but also plays an important role in the computer input of Chinese characters, as well as the sorting tool when using the Chinese dictionary. The positive role of Pinyin in teaching Chinese as a foreign language cannot be ignored. Through this workshop, foreign staff have an opportunity to master the pronunciation rules and basic skills of Chinese Pinyin, which may help them build a foundation of Chinese learning.

For more information about Staff Training sessions, please kindly refer to Staff Training Calendar AY2021-2022 with XJTLU Intranet.
