HIGHLIGHTS IN MAY 2022

 

 

 

New Manager Onboarding Programme AY2021-2022

The University grows rapidly as more staff and students are joining the University, along with the development and expansion are challenges and strong competition. As the development of the University has been in a new era, the group of people managers at the middle level are emerging and management/leadership competencies now become critical for them as their roles are turning from individual contributors to people managers.

With the support of University, cooperating with IBSS, the youngest school ever to become AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business)-accredited, New Manager Onboarding Programme AY2021-2022 has started on 24th May, delivered by Dr. Chiachi Chang, Assistant Professor in Organisational Psychology from Department of Strategic Management and Organisations, IBSS. In this programme, participants will learn how to enhance their awareness of being managers and acquire the skills of team management. They are expected to be better equipped to manage their teams on a daily basis, so as to build a solid foundation for achieving the goals of the University.

 

 

Staff Chinese Course

Starting from 8th March, the programme has been completed successfully on 19th May and received positive feedback from the participants. During the two-month journey, the participants have experienced a dedicated designed Chinese course delivered by Ms. Yanfang Si, Language Lecturer from Modern Languages Centre, School of Languages. The course framework, frequency and total length have been optimised to better suit the needs of our staff. Participants have obtained the language skills that cover not only the daily life conversations but also some workplace communication.

New Staff Induction

New Staff Induction is generally conducted at the beginning of each semester to assist new staff to settle into the workplace. It covers General Session for all new staff and Academic Session for new academic staff specific in learning and teaching. Before the formal induction, new staff may also refer to the Pre-reading materials on New Staff Induction Page to obtain a better understanding of the University Functions and their services. 

 

About Learning & Teaching

Some new staff have occasionally been asked to begin teaching without much chance to get to know how we approach learning, teaching, assessment, as well as use digital tools to support learning. Educational Development Unit (EDU) will offer regular professional development session to newly hired staff. 

There will be an ongoing session for new staff at 9:00 AM on the first Friday of each month. For more details, please contact EDU@xjtlu.edu.cn.

To follow up to HR Notice on March 10, 2022, we’ve finished the system update, you can submit Parental Leave in X-HR now by following the steps below.

Step 1: Qualification Application  After the birth of a baby, you can send a copy of birth certificate to c&b.hr@xjtlu.edu.cn to initial the process. After verifying the information on certificate, according the policy, number of days of Parental Leave will be granted to you in X-HR. For special cases if your kid was born before February 10th 2022 the effective date of new Parental Leave, the number of Parental Leave days will be prorated.

Step 2: Leave Application  After qualification application is approved, you can login X-HR to submit leave application by selecting “Parental Leave” and following the instruction of Timeoff Guide HERE.
