Centre for Knowledge and Information, shorted as CKI, is the combination of Library, Management Information Technology and System Office (MITS), Museum, University Marketing and Communications (UMC), and Educational Technology (CET).

FM.CKI held an workshop on topic of Fabricate Reality with following content:

In total 74 students and staff attended the workshop, they had on-site experience of Microsoft newest Mixed Reality technology and Virtual Reality Projects provided by XJTLU School of Language.

HIGHLIGHTS
NEW SEMESTER GOAL SETTING ACTIVITY HAS BEEN HELD IN THE LIBRARY SUCCESSFULLY
Resolutions and goals aren't just for New Year's. Start the new semester off by setting some achievable goals to benefit your life and learning experience! The library has set up a message board on the 1st floor of the Library which will enhance the students to write down their goals for the new semester.
Within 5 days about 400 students wrote down their goals on it. This activity lasted from 5 till 12 March which attracted many students to stop and watch the goals shared by other students on the board. Setting goals is a valuable tool to help new semester run smoothly, giving you a clear comprehensible idea of what you want to accomplish.
EMBEDDED CLASSES FOR ILEAD AND IBSS
Invited by staff from ILEAD and IBSS, librarians from XJTLU Library delivered two embedded workshops for students on 18 March. Sessions are aiming to introduce the XJTLU Library's online resources to the students and to demonstrate practical step by step strategies in finding relevant materials effectively.
In total, 61 students from ILEAD and 47 students from IBSS actively joined the workshops. Students expressed their satisfaction with the invaluable experiences gained out of it. In addition, the teachers who sent invitations to librarians also expressed their gratitude to the Library for providing such useful courses.
XJTLU PATENT ANALYSIS REPORT
XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Center and XJTLU Library produced the Patent Analysis Report of XJTLU by using the authoritative patent information database and the unique patent information analysis tools. The Report provides a statistical analysis of the patents applied by XJTLU over the years from the perspective of application year, patent type, legal status, applicant, inventor, technology field, patent value, etc. It plays as a reference for further improving the patent layout and technological innovation level of XJTLU.

MITS HYFLEX AND MULTIMEDIA TRAINING
In mid-March MITS invited staff to join the multimedia training. Being familiar with multimedia equipment that MITS provides is essential to high-quality blended classroom experience. Training sessions consisted of an overview of current multimedia equipment available inside classrooms and meeting rooms. Special attention was given to the newer HyFlex equipment and common issues related. The sessions were supported by MITS Training and Development Committee. Staff that missed the training sessions are encourage to view the sessions. For convenience both English and Chinese versions are available.
“SMART IDENTITIES” ON A SMART CAMPUS - XJTLU LAUNCHES A NEW GENERATION OF UNIFIED IDENTITY AUTHENTICATION PLATFORM
Recently XJTLU has successfully deployed a new generation of unified identity authentication platform with 16 application systems, and more systems are coming soon.
The platform is designed and presented by MITS through a comprehensive research. It facilitates the demand from different users, and enhanced the entire system’s efficiency and security. The new platform meets both business and technical requirements from DoE (Department of Education) and cyber security’s perspective.
MITS MONTHLY INTERNAL TRAINING – FOUNDATIONS OF INTERCONNECTION NETWORKS
On 25 March, Fengshi Shen launched an unusual training course which is about the Foundations of Interconnection Networks for MITS colleagues. MITS staff actively participated in the training. Before the end, staff completed the network knowledge quiz and the feedback of the lecturer training effect.
This is the first time since MITS Staff Training and Development Committee has established the internal training system to carry out activities. The Committee will continue to summarise experience. We Look forward that the process and content will be better on the next monthly internal training.

XJTLU MUSEUM CULTURE LECTURE: EXPERIENCE THE CHARM OF WU CULTURE AT WUZHONG MUSEUM
Wuzhong Museum has officially opened and more than 5,000 pieces of cultural relics will "walk" from the warehouse into the showcases. Wuzhong Museum, also known as Wu Culture Museum, officially opened on 28 June, 2020.
Themed on “The Leading Museums”, the Ninth Series of XJTLU Museum Culture Lecture (Season 2) invites Mr. Chen Zenglu, Curator of Wuzhong Museum, over for the “KAI TAN LE” event. It provided a chance for teachers and students from all over the world at XJTLU to listen closely to the stories behind Wuzhong Museum, and to delve into the history and explore the culture of Wu area. We hope this talk will better connect our teachers and students with museum culture.
X-BAR “ONE DAY HOST” EVENT HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY HELD FOR 2 PERIODS
To provide an open and diversified platform for the exchange of ideas, XJTLU Museum launches the “One Day Host” event located in the campus cultural space– X Bar. This new event is committed to offering an opportunity for the insightful teachers and students of XJTLU to be “One Day Host” of X Bar, based on which the participants could lead online videos about hobbies in different academic area sharing and discussion the deep thinking in various disciplines.
Zheng Gao from Department of Applied English and Ziming Su from Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering shared the experience of making Suzhou Food Qingtuan Dumplings and VR technology respectively. More than 100 students participated in the “One Day Host” Event this March.

A COLLECTION OF SOUNDS | LISTEN TO XJTLU
To celebrate the up-coming 15th anniversary of our university, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Museum is calling for audio entries from all faculty, students and alumni which capture the sound of XJTLU and seal the warmth and brilliance of those moments in the history of XJTLU.
All selected audio works will be exhibited in Exhibition Hall 155 of the Central Building on 18 May 2021. These sounds will be stored in envelopes. When the audience opens the envelopes, they can not only read the text but also hear the recording. We look forward to your active participation.

CET OUTREACH STORIES IN SAT
Since the launch of the CET outreach programme, the leadership team and colleagues from the School of Advanced Technology (SAT) are very supportive and proactive in finding ways to improve communication and collaboration between CET and SAT.
Colleagues in SAT are located in two buildings, so the CET outreach service alternates between the two for each session to maximise convenience for all SAT staff members.
On 16 March, Na Li, a senior educational technologist and the CET school representative for SAT, visited SAT for the second outreach day. One of the colleagues commented:”It’s very convenient that I can walk out of my office and quickly have a chat with a member from CET…in addition to gaining understanding of my own queries, on hearing questions from other colleagues I was exposed to new ideas and applications that I am interested to make use of in my module”.

DIGITAL LEARNING RESOURCE HUB
Digital learning resource hub has already been running for two years. During these time, the hub has produced more than 100 videos and 1,000 hours media for supporting the university’s teaching and learning. The hub provides a series of professional equipments and technologies, including touch screen, green-screen backdrop, lighting board and broadcast-quality audio recordings.
Our services include not only the video shooting, but also the post-production section. We encourage all the teacher to produce multimedia contents with us under the situation with the rise of the online teaching. Welcome to book session and create fantastic teaching videos with us!
