Originally built during the period of Guangxu Emperor of Qing Dynasty, the “Hou De Zai Fu” (great virtue carries happiness with it) gate tower was part of a residence that belonged to a Suzhou businessman. This replica of the gate tower, named “The Gate of Wisdom,” is a donation made to XJTLU by Suzhou Xieguyingzao Engineering Co, Ltd in conjunction with Suzhou Yijin Shochu Winery Co.
