XIPU SHOW COLLECTION HAS BEEN INCREASED, ‘THE GATE OF WISDOM’ HAS BEEN ADDED ON THE SOUTH CAMPUS

Originally built during the period of Guangxu Emperor of Qing Dynasty, the “Hou De Zai Fu” (great virtue carries happiness with it) gate tower was part of a residence that belonged to a Suzhou businessman. After time and time again of repair work and careful research, the gate tower was eventually selected to be exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale, drawing large crowds of teachers and students from world-renowned architecture schools to observe and study.

This replica of the gate tower, named “The Gate of Wisdom,” is a donation made to XJTLU by Suzhou Xieguyingzao Engineering Co, Ltd in conjunction with Suzhou Yijin Shochu Winery Co. Ltd, in the hopes that it could facilitate the education of traditional Chinese culture and the exchanges between Eastern and Western cultures at the campus of XJTLU.
