Centre for Knowledge and Information, shorted as CKI, is the combination of Library, Management Information Technology and System Office (MITS), Museum, University Marketing and Communications (UMC), and Centre for Educational Technology (CET).

LIBRARY NOTICE OF DUE DATES EXTENDED
According to the Notice on Student Return to Campus and Teaching Arrangements for AY2021-22 semester 1, for your convenience and to avoid any overdue fines, the checked-out library items with due date between 31 May 2021 to 14 October 2021 will be extended to 15 October 2021. If there is any change in the pandemic situation or university instructions, due dates for library items will continue to be extended.
If you are not able to return to university on time to return books, the Library suggests that you renew borrowed books online before the due date through http://opac.xjtlu.edu.cn. If you have any problems with renewing items online, please send an Email to library-service@xjtlu.edu.cn for help.
XJTLU LIBRARY: SUPPORTING YOUR ONLINE LEARNING
XJTLU Library, playing the role as Research Support and Learning Centre in XJTLU, supports students both on and off campus. The Library homepage (https://lib.xjtlu.edu.cn/), a gateway to e-resources and a manual to Library services, is available 24/7 all year around. During the online learning period, you may access Library e-resources to facilitate your learning, participate in workshops to be familiar with e-resources searching, and make use of reference services when needing help.

XJTLU LIBRARY DEEP CLEANING DURING THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS
To keep our library clean and inviting, a regular deep cleaning around the library was carried out during this summer holidays.
Cleaners swept floors, wiped down tables and chairs at all levels of the building thoroughly.
A few damaged chairs and chairs with tough stains were picked out along the way. Replacement of these chairs have already be arranged.
HIGHLIGHTS
GO LIVE POLICY PLATFORM FOR PUBLISHING THE ACADEMIC POLICES
In order to facilitate users to quickly search for university policies, MITS cooperated with the CAA office to complete the establishment of the policy platform. Some key features are listed below:
- The policies can be arrange in many difference ways. For example, you can arrange them into different categories by policy owner, by audience, by topic and so on.
- All the contents inside the policy can be searched.
- The polices can be sorted by A-Z
- Version control is supported
- The users can subscribe the policy and get the notification if the policy version is changed.
IT SERVICE CENTRE
IT Service Center handled the issues for daily work. Including 4,750 tickets, 1,656 telephone inquiries and 345 on-site services.
In addition, IT front desk undertakes the task of making ID cards, totally making 2,520 cards during the July and August.
In the new academic year, our service center will keeping provide a high-level service standard for all staff and students.
MITS ONLINE TEACHING TRAINING AY2021-22
To better support online teaching in AY2021-22, MITS provided online training sessions about how to take a lesson from an idea to making it available online.
There are a lot of options available. Through this informative training, MITS shared the information on how to use Lecture capturing, Online classroom recording, and professional recording software Camtasia, which would greatly improve the pre-record lesson’s quality.
Faculty and staff in attendance gave very positive feedback after the training.

GIVE HISTORY A FUTURE, THE EXHIBITION OF XJTLU MEMORABILIA WAS SUCCESSFULLY HELD DURING THE GRADUATION CEREMONY IN 2021
Give history a future, the exhibition of XJTLU memorabilia was successfully held during the graduation ceremony in 2021.
This exhibition focuses on the important events and time points since the founding of XJTLU, fully demonstrating the development and achievements of XJTLU.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Fifteen years has just begun for a university.
Through this exhibition, teachers and students can better understand XJTLU and enhance the sense of belonging of XJTLUers.

XJTLU MUSEUM IS GOING TO ORGANISE A COMPETITION: JIANGNAN CULTURE CUP - INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP COMPETITION OF DIGITAL CULTURAL AND CREATIVE PRODUCTS
Relying on the advantages of abundant resources, close cooperation between industry, academia and research, and active investment in innovation and entrepreneurship, Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District Administrative Committee and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University jointly organise the Jiangnan Culture Cup - Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Digital Cultural and Creative Products (referred to as the Competition), which will be a supporting event of the first Jinji Lake Forum on Cooperation and Development of Digital Cultural Industry in 2021. The Competition calls for high-quality digital cultural and creative product start-up projects for young people around the world.

In July, XJTLU was mentioned in media reports from more than 40 national, provincial and municipal outlets, including China Youth Daily, Xinhua Daily, Yangtze Evening Post, Modern Express, Guizhou Daily, Chuncheng Evening Post, China Education Online, Sichuan News Net, The Cover, Guangxi News, Xi’an City and The Paper. HIGHLIGHTS
A BIG WELCOME TO OUR NEW TEAM MEMBER
Jason Myrick, who comes to us from Florida, will work as an instructional designer for IBSS, as well as supporting the CET. He has worked in international higher education for over 15 years, beginning his career as an English language teacher and finally transitioning into full-time instructional design and technology. He holds Master’s in Education and is completing another in Educational Technology, and he is also a Senior Fellow in the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He has published and presented on a range of topics including Moodle, online assessments, and blended learning. His research interests are the integration of technology into teaching, learning and teaching with virtual/mixed reality tools, and quality assurance in online education. With Jason’s appointment, the CET team will be able to offer much better educational technology support to XJTLU teachers and students.
ONLINE LEARNING AND TEACHING PREPARATION REVIEW PANEL MEETING
On Thursday, 2 September, representatives from CET and MITS met with colleagues from across the University to provide an overview as well as discuss the preparations made for the start of AY2021-22 semester 1, particularly those relating to supporting online learning and teaching.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to raise urgent queries and clarify best practices in relation to undertaking online learning and teaching related activities – as well as discuss future plans for educational technology development at XJTLU.

NEW FEATURE IN DASHBOARD
Learning Mall system has got a new feature in the Dashboard page for teachers. Instead of having slideshows, where users can only see one slide at a time, this new feature displays several promoted features at a time in a grid area. Teachers can choose the feature they are interested in with a single glance and click onto the images to view a detailed explanation about the feature.
