“ONE DAY MUSEUM”HAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED
“ONE DAY MUSEUM”LET'S SHARExKIDS is a new brand activity of XJTLU Museum events series. It contains a series of Chinese and Western culture and art experience courses, which aims to spread the essence of Chinese and Western cultural concepts, stimulate children's curiosity through sharing and practice, and cultivate their exploration and practical ability in all aspects. On 24 August, museum invited internal and external experts to bring kids courses regarding silk culture, social etiquette in western languages, Suzhou local culture and British Culture as well as handicraft. Through participating in these courses, we hope children can improve their interest in Chinese traditional culture and cross-cultural language communication, expand international horizons, and strengthen students' artistic thinking and stimulate their artistic creativity.
“ONE DAY HOST”EVENT IN X BAR
To provide an open and diversified platform for the exchange of ideas, XJTLU Museum launches the “One Day Host” event located in the campus cultural space–X Bar. This new event is committed to offering an opportunity for the insightful teachers and students of XJTLU to be “One Day Host” of X Bar, based on which the participants could lead online academic lectures sharing and discussion the deep thinking in various disciplines including science, technology, humanities and social sciences, arts and so on. If you are interested in this event, please fill the application form via the link to register for becoming the host. Museum team will select contents and confirm the activity schedule accordingly.
MUSEUM NARRATOR RECRUITMENT
Xi’ an JiaoTong-Liverpool University Museum “Narrator Group” is officially set up in 2014. It is responsible for providing guests with the information of development and vision of XJTLU.
Additionally, “Narrator Group” will be in charge of the reception of the significantly external guests and internal staff, providing interpretation in order to propagate the XJTLU’s campus culture. Now we are in need of more communication, trans-information and comprehension not only on campus, but also towards the society. SUMMER INTERNSHIP IN FAMOUS COMPANY
Are you looking for a summer internship in a famous company? 200 hours of summer training helps students gain real-world experience in the workplace.
The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) is an important and unique part of its education model. Therefore, the post aimed to promote the education model of XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) by sharing students’ experiences in the 2022 PDP. This article received the best performance among all the news stories in August, with over 7,000 page views and 34 engagements.

ANOTHER BIG COMMUNITY GARDEN IN SUZHOU IS HERE!
In 2020, Wujiang District started a new round of renovation projects for old neighborhoods. Taking this as an opportunity, WJU and Tongji University cooperated to build a demonstration site of "Community Garden" in LuXiang Village 2. This is the first demonstration site in Suzhou.
During the construction of the community garden, there are over 100 XJTLU Students from Urban Planning and Design involved. They designed interactive devices such as spiral gardens, insect houses, and rainwater harvesting for the garden. By combining theory and practice, they offered many innovative ideas for the community garden.
UMC PUBLISHED 24 NEW ARTICLES IN AUGUST
In August, UMC published 24 news articles. The topics include Learning Mall’s upgrade, research achievements, students’ awards, students’ and staff’s stories, campus life, and external communication and collaboration.

TRAINING SESSIONS OF THE PARTY AND GOVERNMENT
Learning Mall held a total of 13 party and government training sessions in August. The training sessions for this month were mainly for the provincial government units in Jiangsu Province. And the courses covered human resources, technical training, political lectures, etc. Director of Centre for Knowledge and Information Dr. Xin Bi and Deputy Director of Learning Mall Jing Wang participated in the opening ceremonies of the training sessions respectively.
Furthermore, training sessions for next month will expand cooperation to other cities across the country.

LAUNCH OF TENCENT MEETING
Zhumu has been serving as XJTLU’s online conference tool for the past one and half year, and the service agreement will be completed in late Sep 2022.
After reviewing, recommendation and cost analysis, Tencent Meeting will be replacing Zhumu from this September. As China’s largest online conference tool, we believe this change will be beneficial for both staff and students, especially when having meetings with mixed types of audiences.
Learning Mall will also arrange training and support sessions for this new tool shortly. A guide on how to install and log in Tencent Meeting with XJTLU account is available HERE.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
As the new semester approaches, Learning Mall has prepared a series of activities and inductions for new students. The related content and materials have been releasing until early September. Importantly, we aim to give new students a fun way to learn about the different roles and services of LM core and LM premium.
On August 22, Leaning Mall participated in live streaming as an Academic Bridging Session for Academic Exploring Week. The staff introduced the various elements of Learning Mall and answered questions from online students, including the main functions, the way to seek help, etc.

WELCOME FRESHMEN: EXPLORE YOUR LIBRARY DURING ORIENTATION
XJTLU Library will hold Freshmen events in September to bring diverse channels for new students to explore the library’s resources and services. The annual event aims to welcome freshmen and help them to get familiar with XJTLU Library. In the main entrance hall of the library, there’ll be a big information board to showcase sub-activities: Library Exploration Game, Library Guide Collection, Library Resources and Services Induction, and Library Etiquette Tips Guide. Freshmen are most welcomed to participate in the activities to learn how to search for, locate and borrow books, how to make use of e-resources, how to reach computer labs, etc.

TEXTBOOK COLLECTION FOR SEMESTER 1 IN AY 2022/23
XJTLU Library are delighted to welcome students (back) to XJTLU for the new semester. In order to protect the health and safety of staff and students, Textbook Service Center has been completely disinfected and sterilized. Also, COVID-19 nucleic acid tests have been performed on all the textbooks and all the results are negative. MITS SUCCESSFULLY HOSTED THE CKI-ICT SCHOOL VISIT EVENT
On Aug 15th, MITS and LM, on behave of the CKI, hosted the CKI-ICT School visit event with Design School. MITS reviewed the IT-related issues and suggestions made from the last meeting and introduced the PC Anywhere platform and a university-level HPC center that will be available to all faculty members next semester. The Learning Mall Leadership has shared new projects and solutions benefiting teaching and learning affairs. During the event, the School leadership and CKI management team discussed the mutual promotion of teaching methods and technical means and made inspiring speeches on their respective views. With the CKI-ICT school visit event, Connections between Schools and members of CKI have become closer.

MITS GETS READY FOR THE TAICANG CAMPUS OPENING IN AY2223
Beginning this September, the XJTLU Entrepreneur College in Taicang will be officially put into use. MITS works closely with other departments to ensure the new facilities work steadily and smoothly to support the teaching and research activities. Due to the tight schedule and insufficient workforce, engineers from the SIP campus also joined the TC campus team. Tasks include cabling and networking, IDC data center construction, servers, systems, platforms and firewall deployment, computer labs, meeting rooms, and smart classrooms set up, device and equipment installation and configuration(printers, library access control, pandemic control devices, etc.) and more.
INFORMATION SYSTEMS UPGRADE
This month MITS upgraded information systems to enhance the user experience for teaching, learning, and office work. The network authentication upgrade provided the MacAuth feature, which simplified the authentication process for commonly used devices. The device management page was also upgraded with a more user-friendly layout. The self-service printing and telephone systems were upgraded to support the growing demand, especially for the opening Taicang Campus.
