Centre for Knowledge and Information, shorted as CKI, is the combination of Library, Management Information Technology and System Office (MITS), Museum, University Marketing and Communications (UMC), and Centre for Educational Technology (CET).

HIGHLIGHTS
FULLY PREPARED FOR THE NEW SEMESTER
Education is a top priority at XJTLU, and helping to get everything ready for that is one of MITS most essential jobs. This summer vacation, over 260 classrooms and 30+ computer labs received maintenance, and their hardware and software were upgraded or updated. All classrooms and computer labs will be available for students and staff on 11 Oct. MITS also presented four training sessions on classroom and meeting room technology to assist new staff to be familiar with the technology those rooms host. Additionally, Zhumu is now available to all teachers and their online classes and administrative units with meetings and conferences. This helps ensure that teachers can continue to create excellent educational experiences for XJTLU students. We wish all students and staff a successful semester.
THE NEW XJTLU PASS CODE(三码合一)
As school starts soon, in order to simplify and speed up the efficiency of the audit process, staff and students can upload your intraday Jiangsu Health Code and Travel History Code in advance to get your new version of XJTLU Health Pass Code. Besides, affected by this upgrade, very few users may not be able to open the pass code link previously “favorited” on WeChat. Please try to refresh the page or scan the QR code and favorite the link again. See the MITS NOTICE email for details.
SRM SYSTEM TRAINING AND MITS MONTHLY INTERNAL TRAINING
On 29 Sep, MITS held and joined internal sharing at central building.
The first training theme was SRM system training. Our vendor introduced SRM online system which will be instead Expense control system in the future. All kinds of documents will be approved online and fluently processed, which will bring more convenience and simplification.
MITS department also held the 21th monthly internal training.
The theme of the training was Physical and network communication security. Wei He gave us an induction of network security. We will continue to hold more meaningful training in the future.

ISUZHOU CAME TO XJTLU TO INTERVIEW CHINESE AND FOREIGN STUDENTS ABOUT THEIR COGNITION OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE
Today, Suzhou intangible Cultural Heritage skills are still active on the world stage. The film " The Magic Craft of Suzhou " was introduced into colleges and universities to create a rare opportunity for college students to appreciate the charm of Traditional Chinese culture and intangible cultural heritage, and to look back on the history and enlighten the present.
ISuzhou came to XJTLU to interview Chinese and foreign students about their cognition of intangible cultural heritage. The students who have been interviewed shared their knowledge of Suzhou intangible cultural heritage skills in their daily study and life as well as the suzhou intangible cultural heritage skills that impressed them the most.
XJTLU MUSEUM HELD THE FIRST ONLINE ACTIVITY OF THE NEW SEMESTER: ONLINE MUSEUM TOUR
On 23 September, XJTLU Museum held online museum tour event, the host of this online event led the audience to visit XJTLU Museum exhibition hall and introduced the history and development status of XJTLU to the online audience.
Following the concept of “the whole campus is a museum”, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Museum is dedicated to showcasing XJTLU's innovative approach to higher education development, promoting the integration of inherit aspects of eastern and western culture, striving to be a creative platform for free dialogue, bringing different minds together and initiating learning to inspire, educate and enrich audiences’ understanding.

NOTICE OF POSTPONEMENT OF JIANGNAN CULTURE CUP-INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP COMPETITION OF DIGITAL CULTURAL AND CREATIVE PRODUCTS
Due to the epidemic, the registration deadline of the Jiangnan Culture Cup Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Digital Cultural and Creative Products has been extended to 20 October 2021.
This competition will be a supporting event of the first Jinji Lake Forum on Cooperation and Development of Digital Cultural Industry in 2021. The Competition calls for high-quality digital cultural and creative product start-up projects for young people around the world.

DIGITAL LEARNING RESOURCE HUB
This summer, the Digital learning resource hub welcomed a new intern: Alice. She is currently studied in filmmaking major and will be supporting the production work for the following year. With the addition of her, the Digital learning resource hub starts a new work model. The previous team will continue shooting and editing the project, while Alice will be responsible for the maintenance and booking system.
During the online teaching week, we had worked with over ten departments to provide video and audio recording services for the university’s teaching and learning, including functional induction videos, lightboard presentations, lecture recordings and more.
In anticipation of the upcoming onsite teaching session, we are currently receiving many bookings. Despite the pressure of work, the whole team will continue to be the most supportive. Please feel free to contact us early. We hope to cooperate with you with the best service.
STUDENT E-LEARNING COORDINATOR MEETING IN AY2021/22
15 September saw the 1st Student E-learning Coordinator meeting in AY2021/22. It is an online meeting with six students e-learning coordinators participating since the students have not come back to campus in the first four teaching weeks. During the meeting, Roland Sherwood, former Head of CET, explained issues subject to the Learning Mall performance as well as provided a range of ways via which students can get support, then wrap up the meeting with a sneak peak for the XJTLU CHAT and its application in mobile devices.
Meeting with the students e-learning coordinators, who featuring a mix of the students across the university, CET expects suggestion and feedback affecting a broader student community for the enhancement of learning and teaching with the use of the educational technologies.
CENTRE FOR EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE SEPTEMBER
September saw the return of XJTLU’s XR Community of Practice (CoP) for the new semester.
The XR CoP welcomed a presentation from Kenneth Simmons, CET Educational Technologist, whom provided a road map for the future of XR at XJTLU with the exciting news around the construction of XJTLU’s XR innovations Centre.

XJTLU ESI RESEARCH PERFORMANCE REPORT (SEPTEMBER 2021 ISSUE) RELEASED
The Library has released the September 2021 Issue of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Essential Science Indicators (ESI) Research Performance Report, which provides the latest information about XJTLU’s ESI rankings and performances, ESI Top 1% research fields and ESI Top Papers.
In the current update, XJTLU has entered the ESI Top 1% in the field of Social Science, General for the first time. This is the 3rd field for XJTLU to enter the global Top1%, following Engineering and Computer Science.

HOW TO COLLECT YOUR TEXTBOOKS FOR SEMESTER 1 IN AY2021/22
We are delighted to welcome all students back to XJTLU for the new semester, and we are very much looking forward to seeing you on campus. In order to protect the health and safety of staff and students, Textbook Service Center has been completely disinfected and sterilised. Also, COVID-19 nucleic acid tests have been performed on all the textbooks and all the results are negative.
Thus, in accordance with the arrangements introduced by the University Communication issued on 27 August, please be kindly informed of the textbook collection schedule and instructions for AY2021/22 S1.
