Centre for Knowledge and Information, shorted as CKI, is the combination of Library, Management Information Technology and System Office (MITS), Museum, University Marketing and Communications (UMC), and Educational Technology (CET).

EXPERIENCE CULTURE AND HISTORY OF “THE DREAM OF THE RED CHAMBER”AT JIANGNING IMPERIAL SILK MANUFACTURING MUSEUM
The Eighth Series of XJTLU Museum Culture Lecture, themed “Experience Culture and History of ‘The Dream of the Red Chamber’ at Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Museum” has been successfully held at the museum on 9 December. Mrs. Huang Chen, Executive Deputy Director of Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Museum, and museology researcher shared wonderful stories behind collections and Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Museum with XJTLU teachers and students.

ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP: USES ART TO CONVEY YOUR STORY IN 2020
XJTLU Museum presents a series of lectures and activities for XJTLU students and staff to extend their insight about learning, career and even the life.
“W•E Salon” is a brand series event which is organised by XJTLU Museum. Renowned artists, entrepreneurs, talk show actors, authors and scholars who are widely recognized for their achievements in different fields will be invited to “W•E Salon”. Here comes the Fifth series. XJTLU Museum invited Ms. Xin Guo, an excellent Illustrator to teach you how to tell your 2020 story with illustrations.

XJTLU MUSEUM CLOSED DAYS
According to the 2020-2021 academic calendar, Museum and X Bar will be closed from 1 February to 19 February 2021 during the winter holiday. This is for facility maintenance, space innovation and collection enrichment and to ensure its sustainable development as well as save resources. The calendar for the Museum Closed Days is attached above.

NEWS WRITING IN DECEMBER
In December, UMC published over 30 pieces of English and Chinese news stories. Topics including Executive President’s Christmas, New Year and Spring Festival message, students’ stories, campus life, research, and external communication and collaboration. Meanwhile, it is worth to highlight that XJTLU was featured in a TV programme produced by China Education Television (CETV), which topic is special on Sino-foreign joint venture universities. The TV programme was shown on CETV Channel 1 and 3.

CET SUPPORT OUTREACH PROGRAMME – WE’D LOVE TO CONNECT WITH YOU!
CET recently introduced a Support Outreach Programme designed to enrich communication and engagement around technology-enhanced learning and teaching. This initiative has been warmly received, and so far we have successfully arranged Outreach Days in November, December and January for the School of Science, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute of Leadership and Education Advanced Development, and the School of Advanced Technology. We look forward to meeting you during the Outreach Day for your School!
COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE UPDATE
In December, XJTLU's XR CoP convened, with presentations made by Qilei Sun (Virtual Engineering Centre Engineer) concerning an AR project focused on enhancing navigation within the Library, as well as by Zhonghao Chen (Lecturer Cultural Technology Taicang Campus) who discussed VR and Film. XJTLU's Assessment CoP also welcomed presentations from Charlie Reis (Educational Development Team), Chengcheng Li (English Language Centre) and Jean-Yves LeCorre (Department of Accounting).

CET SHOWCASES XJTLU USE OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
CET regularly engages with other universities to showcase XJTLU’s educational technology infrastructure and practices, including via participation in ILEAD's Teaching and Learning Support Programmes.
On 16 December 2020, CET staff delivered a workshop for Guilin University of Electronic Technology on the topic of Technology Enhanced Student-Centred Learning and Teaching. Integrating multiple, blended learning pedagogy and instructional design principles, such as active learning, connectivism, gamification and adaptive learning, the workshop made clear some of the ways XJTLU uses innovative and advanced technologies to promote effective student-centred active learning and teaching.
In addition, CET also introduced how the University was able to undertake the transition from face-to-face to fully online delivery effectively and rapidly via leveraging the University's 13+ years’ experience of using Moodle.
SUPPORT FOR ONLINE ASSESSMENTS
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, CET - in collaboration with Registry and MITS - has made extensive efforts to support the use of online assessments.
Based on our experience of helping to facilitate over 500 online exams in the past 12-months, CET has developed two standardisation modules to provide specific, adaptive and personalized guidance to help module leaders and online invigilators be better prepared to undertake online assessments.
A specific support e-mail address, invigilation@xjtlu.edu.cn has also been established in order to provide high priority service during the exam period.

LIVING LIBRARY SESSION II HELD SUCCESSFULLY
On 1 December 2020, Living Library Session II was held successfully at 123W in the Central Building. In the second session, we invited five LIVING BOOKS who devoted himself to scientific research at an early age. They shared their life experiences and ideals with us face to face, encouraging us to learn, to treat life calmly and peacefully with a better attitude.
The guest speakers' insights and experiences have greatly helped the audience, guiding them to reflect on their current life and look forward to the future. Hopefully, everyone will complete their journey of university life with a more explicit purpose and more determination.
XJTLU LIBRARY HAS BEEN AWARDED THE “READING SIP 2020” EXCELLENT ORGANISATION AWARD
In December 2020, the Publicity Department of Suzhou Industrial Park (Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau) awarded the XJTLU Library with the “Reading SIP 2020” excellent organisation award.
The XJTLU Library has become a centre of campus cultural exchange activities and due to its rich collection of resources and pleasant reading environment, has become the main platform of reading promotion activities. The Library fulfill its responsibility of culture promotion and a harmonious atmosphere creation through the reading activities, and to promote the Reading Atmosphere of the whole XJTLU.
XJTLU INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY INFORMATION SERVICE CENTRE SUCCESSFULLY ESTABLISHED
XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Centre was officially established after preliminary for six months. The Centre will keep in step with the national and university development plans and take into account the needs of university learning & teaching, scientific research and management.
The IPISC will deliver high-quality information services: intellectual property literacy education, patent search and sci-tech innovation information retrieval, and in-depth patent analysis.

MITS AND CET SUPPORT HYFLEX TEACHING ACROSS CAMPUS AY2021
The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought great challenges to our university. Teachers and students are scattered all over the world. How can we find a solution to ensure normal teaching operations for these individuals? MITS collaborated with CET and put forward the solution of the Hyflex teaching model. The combination of online and on-site technology allows teachers to teach students in the classrooms and online at the same time.
In the future, MITS will continue to explore the Hyflex teaching model and support our XJTLU’s innovative educational concepts. We believe these are required to meet the future needs of social development and lifelong learning skills.
JIANGSU INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY NETWORK INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL COMMITTEE 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
In mid-December, MITS, representing the university, attended the Jiangsu Institute of Higher Education Technology Network Information Professional Committee 2020 Annual Conference in Yangzhou. At the meeting, Xudong introduced the educational support system with XJTLU characteristics, our exploration and practice of educational support, the value and contribution of educational support, and our thinking and direction for the future. Xudong shows the XJTLU's efforts and improvements to online teaching support during the epidemic, including software application upgrades and hardware equipment development.
MITS MONTHLY INTERNAL TRAINING EVENT ---- SPLUNK
The MITS department’s monthly internal training project was finished in last week. The speaker, Xiaofeng Bao, a colleague from the infra team, gave a detailed introduction to Splunk. The usage and application in daily work are introduced, also showed a lot of data and examples of applications. Finally, some resources for deep learning and consultation are recommended. Everyone has responded positively to this activity which is also the last internal training activity of Year 2020.
The monthly training activities of MITS have become a tradition within the office. The significance of the activity is also in the hope that everyone can share the knowledge they have. In Year 2021, MITS will develop more trainers and host more meaningful training events.
