Centre for Knowledge and Information, shorted as CKI, is the combination of Library, Management Information Technology and System Office (MITS), Museum, University Marketing and Communications (UMC), and Educational Technology (CET).

Centre for knowledge and Information held All Staff Meeting with five departments sharing their professional ideas in certain areas.
FM.CKI Series Event- Login, Logoff
FM.CKI is a suite of tuning workshops and internal communication events that focus on cross-function communication, potential collaboration, professional opinion and creative idea.
FM.CKI workshop-‘Login, Logoff’ has been successfully organised by CKI in January, guest speaker Don Merovin shared on the topic ‘Information Security in Period of Big Data’ and IT Project Manager Trent Montgomery shared on ‘A Slice of the Online Learning World’.

CET OUTREACH: SCHOOL OF SCIENCE
This month CET Educational Technologists assisted faculty within the School of Science. This entailed various tasks such as responding to queries related to the mid-term assessments, the transfer of grades from the Learning Mall Online to E-Bridge, and assisting with best-practices and the utilisation of classroom equipment as related to Hyflex teaching in preparation for the next semester.
The CET Outreach Support Programme for XJTLU departments, affords member of staff the opportunity to have face to face interactions with Educational Technologists, and enables CET staff the ability to respond to issues raised by members of departments in a timely and efficient manner, whilst also enhancing the relationship between XJTLU faculty and the CET team, and assisting Technology Enhanced Learning throughout the institute.
GAMIFY YOUR QUIZ ON LEARNING MALL ONLINE WITH THE QUIZVENTURE
Are your students spending more time on gaming rather than studying? Well now you can motivate them by allowing them to do both at once!
Quizventure is an activity on Learning Mall Online that loads quiz questions from the module it's added to. The possible answers come down as space ships and students can earn scores by shooting the correct answer.
As the screenshot shows, the interface of the game is designed specially in memory of the 80s video game fashion style. Students can move the ship by using the arrow keys, or by dragging it with the mouse. It is supported by computers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. Come and try the Quizventure in your module and motivate your students now!
ONLINE EXAM REVIEW
During the exam week of this semester, about 159 online final exams were successfully taken on Learning Mall Online.
Among them, 56 online quizzes and 91 using online invigilation technology (BigBlueButton) were carefully reviewed by colleagues from Centre for Educational Technology before the exams started. All the efforts taken by the team is to ensure a successful exam experience for both teachers and students.
So far, we received many positive feedbacks, which again proved the success of the online exam process in XJTLU. In the future, we will introduce more powerful technologies to improve the convenience, accuracy, security, and accessibility of online testing experience.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY INTERNAL WORKSHOP SUCCESSFULLY HELD
On the morning of 19 January, the XJTLU Intellectual Property Information Service Centre and XJTLU Library co-sponsored an intellectual property internal workshop, inviting experts from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), to give an online sharing on their experience in intellectual property and sci-tech novelty retrieval development.
Four guest speakers, Mr. Zili Qiang (Deputy University Librarian of XJTU), Ms. Qin Zhou (Patent Service Expert of XJTU), Mr. Xinan Chen (Sci-tech Novelty Retrieval Service Expert of XJTU) and Ms. Wei Chen (Library Research Support Division Director of XJTU) have brought librarians with wonderful talks about how Xi’an Jiaotong University has run and developed intellectual property information services.

Any checked-out library item which the due date is one of the days from 11 January to 4 March 2021 will all be extended to 5 March 2021. And please make sure your borrowings are returned before the due date (5 March 2021) to avoid overdue fines.
After 5 March, if you are still not able to return to university on time to return books, Library suggests you to renew borrowed books online before the due date through http://opac.xjtlu.edu.cn. If you have any problems with renewing items online, please send an email to library-service@xjtlu.edu.cn for help.

XJTLU HAS BEEN AWARDED THE 2020 EXCELLENT UNIVERSITY AWARD FOR SMART CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION
In January 2021, Digital Campus Committee of Suzhou Computer Society awarded XJTLU with the 2020 Excellent University Award for Smart Campus Construction.
In 2020, while affected by the global spread of the COVID-19, the management Information Technology and Systems Office (MITS) and Center of Educational Technology (CET) submitted XJTLU's unified online and Hyflex learning and teaching solutions collaboratively. Their efforts towards upgrading and optimising Learning Mall Online, Mediasite, BigBlueButton, and other platforms, have guaranteed online and offline teaching activities across campus will continue throughout the Academic Year. In 2021, MITS will further strengthen campus information security, Hyflex learning and teaching, Taicang Campus, Learning Mall technical support, optimise customer service procedures, promote university campus information construction, teaching, and support research with solid technical support.
XJTLU ANNUAL IT BIG DATA
In the past year, MITS backed up for everyone in XJTLU every day.
IT service center: Daily request 33,813. ID card 9,249. IT asset 1,108. Daily maintains 8,427. Phone call 6,508. Onsite 5,488.
Education support: Classroom 253. Computer lab 42 (Including 2,241 computers). Meeting room 119. Supporting online education and Hyflex 654. Maintained software 105.
Infrastructure: Maintained printer 72. Protected us from attack 15,000,000 times. Blocked spam 23,499,083.
Application: 76 application systems in use. Assisted the business department to complete the construction and launch of 12 new systems. Carried out 2 comprehensive system security scans and repairs throughout the year. UIM platform connects HR and SITS system data. Realised the automatic creation of employee and student accounts and the full life cycle management of accounts.

OLD BOX FOLDERS ARE GOING OFFLINE
Over the last month Box was migrated to the new XHR systems security groups.
Data was transferred and old folders were set to read-only. To complete the migration and avoid any complications, all old folders will be disabled on 29 Jan 2021.
This change is not expected to impact operations as all folders and their data exists within each departments’ new folders. Staff that are still accessing the old folders for information will need begin using the new folders, which can be located under ’Shared with Group’ of ‘Shared with Me’ depending on configuration.

MUSEUM EXHIBITION: USE ART TO CONVEY YOUR STORY IN 2020
Illustrations speak a thousand words, and tell stories that words cannot. They communicate your unique story in a universal language and invite viewers to engage with your story. 20 excellent illustration works have been selected for an exhibition from the lecturer Guo Xin and participants during the illustration workshop held at X Bar. They use illustrations to convey their different stories in 2020. Welcome you to attend this interesting exhibition.

CALL FOR THE THEME OF TEDXXJTLU 2021 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
TEDxXJTLU was approved by the TED official headquarters on 7 March 2019, initiated by XJTLU museum staff, independent non-profit volunteer organisation operated by teachers and students, a very energetic incubator for ideas, creativity and innovation. We commit to spreading good ideas and trying to put them into action, and let more creative ideas of XJTLUers heard by the world.
