HIGHLIGHTS
50-DAY GAOKAO COUNTDOWN, PLEASE ANSWER A PHONE CALL FROM THE FUTURE.
With 50 days left before Gaokao, we created a creative WeChat post with interaction to encourage senior high students. The future self-talks with the candidates about the beautiful life and experiences at XJTLU further promoted XJTLU as a good choice for them to apply.

During the past month, XJTLU was mentioned in media reports from outlets including China Youth Daily, Xinhua Daily, Yangtze Evening Post, Suzhou Daily, Suzhou TV, OurJiangsu.com, and Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation.
Researchers from XJTLU have also been included in stories and sought for comment in English-language media outlets including EurekAlert!, That’s Shanghai, Paris Guardian, and Times Higher Education (THE) Campus. Topics included scientific achievements, students’ stories, and campus life.

AI IN EDUCATION
On 27 April, the first XJTLU Learning Mall Guest Lecture Series "Al in Education" was hosted. The lecture was delivered online by Ms. Beth Guo, Industry Executive of education group from Microsoft.
In this lecture, Ms. Beth Guo shared the market layout and development of domestic AI education products and discussed the various typical education scenarios and models formed by AI technology, as well as comparatively analysed the different mindsets presented by China and the US in terms of AI and education development.
At present, Learning Mall and Microsoft have entered a close collaboration to discuss the future ecology and model of education and to promote the digital transformation of education. Microsoft now offers quality courses on Learning Mall, and more will be launched in the future.

PARTNERSHIP WITH CFA EXAM PREP PROVIDER
Learning Mall has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Quartic Training Limited. Quartic is a UK-based training company providing finance courses around the world. In China, Learning Mall is the first strategic partner of Quartic.
Among Quartic's training portfolio, the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program courses are the most famous, because the CFA charter is one of the highest distinctions in the investment management profession worldwide. To become a CFA charterholder, candidates must pass three levels of rigorous exams. As one of the exam preparation providers officially approved by the CFA Institute, Quartic supports candidates for all three levels of CFA exams.
Learning Mall is in discussion with Quartic on introducing its quality CFA Program courses and other resources for our learners.
WORKSHOP FOR STAFFS OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Professional services staff have always been one of the most important parts of online teaching and learning support in XJTLU. Being assigned an “Administrative Staff” role in the Learning Mall Core platform, they can easily support any individual permission changes or departmental online teaching activities. To provide better supports to them, on April 20th 2022, Educational Technologist Team of Learning Mall successfully delivered an online training on most of the important administrative features such as how to enroll users, how to edit the module, and how to send notification. About 86 attendees joined the session and offered many positive feedbacks.

XJTLU LIBRARY READING MONTH 2022
XJTLU Library launched its fourth reading month in April. The theme of the Reading Month 2022 was “Self-Care and Positive Thinking”.
Reading Month 2022 was marked by a rich and diverse calendar of engaging activities that motivate the XJTLUers to read and think. The activities consisted of 8 online events (One Tweet, One Book, One Line, Go Reading, Vote for Your Favorite Works, Post My Cloud Playlist, Explore Your Major, World Intellectual Property Day Events) and 8 training sessions of 3 courses (Searching Professional, Let's PS Together, To Be an Effective Autonomous Learner under COVID-19 Pandemic).
The Reading Month 2022, with hundreds of people participating in the activities, established a reading culture during the special period and presented the Library’s continuing support for the students and staff members.
GO READING ON LITTLE WOMEN HELD ONLINE
On 8 April, the 15th session of Go Reading was held online by XJTLU Library and Reader Association. The book to read this time was Little Women by American author Louisa May Alcott.
The meeting consisted of three parts - book introduction, dialogue interpretation and group discussion. Yixuan Wang, as the host of this meeting, first briefly introduced the novel, the main characters and the author's life. In the second part, several participants read a dialogue from the book playing different roles. Group discussions were then carried out on the 4 topics of "touching moments", "overcoming shortcomings", "family education" and "facing difficulties".
Despite the pandemic, the participants experienced the charm of classic literature and gained many interesting ideas by reading and sharing online.
XJTLU STUDENT PARTICIPATE IN THE 4TH INCOPAT ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY RETRIEVE COMPETITION
A total of 16 XJTLU students entered the final of the incoPat Advanced Technology Retrieval Competition - "Future IP Expert" College Elite Competition, and they answered the questions in a unified manner from 20:00 to 21:00 on April 25, competing for the national championship, the national top ten and 50 excellent awards.

MITS CONTINUES TO SUPPORT ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING
With the latest pandemic control protocols, the university has turned into “online mode” by the end of last month. MITS has been keeping up with online teaching and researching activities and strived to provide the best services for staff and students during this particular time. MITS worked closely with the Learning Mall to provide support through the WeChat group “CKI Online Teaching Support” and remote technical assistance, the team also kept optimizing virtual desktop and software services PC Anywhere, which provided all kinds of professional tools for online computer lab-based courses and remote office for staff and students. With limited access to campus, our engineers were still on duty and provided onsite IT technical support for those who worked on campus. MITS also lent over 30 laptops to staff who needed to teaching online off campus and helped them set up the software and hardware in advance.
IT INTEGRATED SERVICE PLATFORM PROJECT
IT integrated service platform will be online soon. At present, the functions of the service platform project include:

- More precise way to consult
- More convenient way to use
- More integrated functions to experience
- More intelligent way to process
The new platform integrates and plans the system and functions in a unified way. In the future, the development direction of the platform system is data visualization, flexible configuration, integration of function expansion, improvement of processes and all-round services.
AY2223 IT SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE BUDGET PLANNING
MITS started to collect the IT hardware and software requirements for AY2223 at beginning this month. Currently, MITS has received over 600 requests from 9 schools, 4 Admin Centres of SIP campus and 7 schools from Taicang campus. Our budget planning teams are working with the departments closely to evaluate these requests. The evaluation is expected to finish by May 18th, and all the requests will be submitted to ICTCS committee for final approval by then. We’ll follow up these IT hardware and software requirement to support learning, teaching, research and office activities AY2223 after budget release on Sept, 2022.

ONLINE EXHIBITIONS AND WORLDWIDE FAMOUS MUSEUMS RECOMMENDATION Ⅲ
In the post-epidemic era, online learning has become the norm. In order to enrich the cultural life of XJTLU teachers and students during the epidemic prevention and control period, XJTLU MUSEUM has organized online exhibition information of various museums and museum-related documentaries for XJTLUers to learn art and culture knowledge online. In addition, XJTLU MUSEUM has also sorted out the wonderful offline exhibitions of the surrounding museums for XJTLUers to visit exhibitions offline. ONLINE ILLUSTRATION SALON SERIES 2&3: ILLUSTRATE CULTURAL RELICS
Museums are a rich source of inspiration for artists. However, during the period of social distancing and travel restrictions, how do they find inspiration from museums online? XJTLU Museum has invited Ms. Guo Xin, an excellent Illustrator to provide series online illustration workshops for XJTLU students and staff. For the second and third workshop, Ms Guo taught us how to illustrate cultural relics from museums. In addition, she guided audience to experience the painting process and encouraged them to complete a piece of work at home. These two sessions attracted nearly 250 audience to participant in and many of them expressed they learned a lot from the workshops.

MUSEUM CULTURAL WEEK EVENTS FOR CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY
On International Museum Day 2022, which will take place on May 18th, XJTLU Museum wants to hold series online events to explore the potential of the university museum to bring about positive change in XJTLU campus. During the period 16 May to 20 May, 2022, XJTLU Museum plans to offer a variety of online programs for XJTLU students and staff as well as the general public in the form of culture lectures, workshops, museum live broadcasting and music concert.
